Leno

That's something, but what about the rest of the staff who relocated for this job? I would hope they would be helped out as well.

So, if Conan leaves NBC, and Leno moves back to TTS at 11:30PM (the position that he previously RETIRED FROM), then who takes over TTS when Leno inevitably retires AGAIN? Jimmy Fallon? Carson Daly?

Nice going, NBC! Jeff Zucker's resumé must look AWESOME with all of the shows canceled and cluster****s that have happened on his watch. :lol

I'd say I'll never watch Leno again, but that would imply that I watched Leno consistently before.

Sorry for my limited skills.

NBC has definitely screwed up massively here. Don't forget, though, that Leno only retired because he was forced to. The history is given in this thread. They forced him to retire to give the show to Conan so they wouldn't lose Conan who they thought was an up and comer and would be the best late night host going come 2009.

NBC is clearly the bad guy and I have to say I'm very disappointed that Jay is willing to take the show back at 11:30. Then again, i suppose it could have to do with the fact he didn't want to leave in the first place. I find it odd he's not commenting on the situation though. Maybe it's clauses - who knows.

It's also been mentioned before it could very well be that whatever they have to pay Conan maybe less than what they'd have to pay Jay to turn him lose.....unfortunately, we'll probably never know the true story(ies).

FWIW, today it was said that NBC has basically worked a deal to let conan walk and apparently he'd be free to compete come this fall at the latest.

This mess is one more reason why I have gravitated to Craig Ferguson, if I watch TV at all.

To me, NBC has become a cesspool of programing all the way around.

Well, Leno's prime time show was horrible. What HORRIBLE skits. And Conan wasn't very good in Tonight. But I only watched them a few times.
Overall it's a kick in the crotch to Conan.

The story I heard at the time was NBC wanted to get Leno out of Tonight before he retired. But then why give him another show?

I also remember Letterman saying he would retire at 50. Ha.

Ya know I started this thread but the more i think about it This happens all over everyday. This is corporate America at is average. I was a district manager for a big retail chain years back and was asked to move to help the company. It was so urgent that I had to move the week after I was married. 10 months later they closed the stores in my new district because of corporate miss management and I was left with no job and had to be an assistant at Blockbuster in the ghetto to get by. (the only job I could find right away) (nothing against people who work blockbuster) (no animals were injured in writing this statement)

I posted the full story on page one. It will answer your question

Edit: Here is short story of the whole situation. I posted this a few days ago

It started when Conan's contract was coming to an end. Fox was extremely interested in conan because their weekly schedule is based on reruns of simpsons and married with children (now tmz), and offered him millions of dollars. ABC wanted to fire jimmy kimmel, and they offered conan money as well, so he can replace the jimmy kimmel show. Basically fox and abc were in the head running.( A cable channel wanted conan as well but gave up during negotiations, but a few years later they ended up with george lopez. Fox has wanda sykes now.)

NBC got scared of the thought of having conan compete with jay leno in the ratings, and didnt want jay to be out done with letterman and conan.

Conan is a huge fan of the tonight show, and it has been his dream to host it. On his old stage on the conan obrien show, he had pictures of past host of the tonight show.

NBC told leno that he will not receive another contract from nbc and it was time to retire because they wanted to keep conan since at the time he was the up and coming host or popular among young people

Leno had no other option but to agree or they wouldnt renew his contract at the time. Basically he was forced.

Throught the remaining months of the conan obrien show, craig fergusion was beating or coming close to conans ratings. Nbc got scared because if fergusion got that close to conans than letterman would slaughter him.

Fox, ABC, A FEW cable networks went after Jay Leno....Once again, the NBC panic and offered him a deal to stay with NBC, so they wouldnt have to worry about leno competing with conan for ratings. Leno stayed since he had history with the network.

Now, NBC was bought out by a new company aka comcast, and the new company is going to reorginize the network due to the mistakes the previous execs made.

I also heard, that Nbc is considering buying out conans contract and releasing him.

Oh great so NOW Comcast is ruining television and not just customers who get service from them.

I just got DirecTV a month ago to get away from Comcast. I guess we'll never be free of the demon that is Comcast.

Eff Comcast.

As far as Conan goes, I hope another network picks him up and directly competes with Leno. Conan will take him down. I have no doubt that we'll be seeing him back on TV very soon. Leno's done.

How much was it Leno, and how much was it the time slot? Considering how Leno's show TANKED before the news, it's kinda a good indicator that it's the time slot. I liked Conan, and the fact that they wanted to move Leno to right after the news shows that it was more the time slot than Leno himself that brought in the viewers.

I watched Conan more often right after the news than I did after Leno.

They should have given Leno a show at another time with a different format.

Lenos show seemed to be half Tonight and half sonny and cher or some other old variety show.

But, I didn't watch it much before and won't now, no matter what happens. It's funny that late night TV hosts gets such huge paychecks.

What's the prez make again?
