NBC shaking up late night schedule!

UPDATE: Looks like the move NBC is considering is having The Jay Leno Show start at 11:30PM ET and run for 30 minutes, thus pushing back The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien to 12AM ET and Late Night with Jimmy Fallon to 1AM ET. This new schedule, if it happens, would go into effect on February 28th.

ORIGINAL: It looks like Jay Leno is headed back to the 11:30PM ET timeslot and that Conan O'Brien could be the odd man out. TMZ reports that Leno's show will go on hiatus starting February 1st, and that after the Olympics, Leno will return to his old 11:30PM ET timeslot. What remains to be seen is if Leno's show will now be a half-hour and lead-in to The tongiht show

Thank God

They really need to dump the Leno show or turn it into a 30 min spot. It's horrible.

Well The Tonight Show used to be 90 minutes. Maybe it will work.

Put it where you will. It's just not funny.

ya sux bring back the 5 shows we lost from the lineup. I would say this might be good news for shows like Chuck that were on the bubble and maybe get a full season instead of half.

I can't believe they didn't see this one coming.
Leno taking the primetime 10pm slot every day of the week was pure setup for disaster. Maybe they should have conducted focus groups:rolleyes

It's total BS! I don't watch either show (one's not funny and the other's too late) but the idea is insane.

A guy says he's leaving a show then announces before he's gone he'll have a new show on the same network. Then they give him a big send off and when it's not doing well they simply move him back to his old time slot?"

I don't think NBC could be more insulting to Conan O'Brian if they cancelled his show altogether. The move is totally disrespectful to the "Tonight Show" franchise.

Hey NBC, it's not the time slot. It's the product!

Yeah, I used to be a fan of Leno's until he pulled this crap. I call it, "pulling a Brett Favre."

I think it was pretty low-rent of Leno to say in an interview "Yeah, I'd come back if they ask me." Then why did you leave?! That shows no respect for Conan and undermines any attempt on O'Brian's part to turn the Tonight Show into his own.

If there's any Howard Stern fans out there, he predicted this WEEKS ago. Leno is terrible and he's killing the entire network ratings...

It would be funny if Conan gets kicked to the curb and put in the 10:00pm deathslot only to kill the ratings.

I know of the 12:00am Tonight show plan, but Conan killing at 10:00pm will just be too hilarious

Just one more thing. I think it's beyond tacky that Leno's joking about it in his monologues.

From everything I read and hear, Jay Leno is one of the nicest guys in the business. That said, NBC is handling this incredibly poorly and I can't see how they will handle this in such a way that is not a slap in the face to Conan O'Brien.

While it seems the majority of us here don't like Leno (I prefer Letterman myself, though I do love Leno's 'headlines' segments), it seems the vast majority of the country disagrees with us. He had been consistently beating Letterman in the ratings since the Hugh Grant interview in the '90s.

I've always chalked it up to one of those 'lowest common denominator' phenomenon. No accounting for taste.

That's the thing I don't get. It's not just here, but all my friends, colleauges and family that watch late night as well that prefer Letterman over Leno (when it's between the two). So how is he staying this popular?

Huh? I am also registered on the forum regarding Transformers TFW2005 and no one has anyting good to say about Letterman... I guess it's a matter of taste.

I like Leno and Conan both...
