Legend of Zelda - Twilight Princess

I have found my new costume project, it's Princess Zelda from the Twilight Princess game:

Sooooo beautiful from head to toe, I'm very much in love already...:love
First step will be the basic white dress, purple bodice, gloves, and flag - then adding trims and designs.

Next will be jewelry (crown, necklace, belt), sword, and finally the armor.:wacko
That's the scariest part, I've never done anything like this (especially the armor will be tough).

I'd appreciate any tips on materials and techniques!!
This needs to be done by the end of September, with a couple of weeks vacation inbetween...

I've always wanted to make this sword, a real version, let me know if you are interested. It's rare that a video game sword design is one that could actually be made into a real functional beautiful piece.

With some luck maybe you can pick up some stuff like the gloves, bodice, and dress locally or cheap from a catalog. I'd check ebay, costume clothing sites, cosplay sites and such.

There are some links over at cos-play . com that have the pep files for the armour pieces but they still need to be unfolded.

Hello again! :) The sword should be convention-friendly rather than functional, but thanks for the offer. I will definitely try to make everything from scratch myself, except maybe for the ears.

Talus, I didn't find any pep files at cos-play .com or anywhere else on the web...:wacko

So I sewed a white dress and a purple bodice. The banner needs to be repainted darker, and some details on the dress and the gloves are still missing. Other than that, the fabric part is done. :) The shoulder armor is made from Pepakura files - thank you Fierfek! I didn't smooth the surface before painting, but for some reason I like this structure.

Today I made the necklace out of clay, now I just need to attach it to the armor somehow. Next will be belt and crown, and I need to find and style a wig. :eek Time is running out, and every piece I can finish for the convention will help. So far I really like the project! Just a lot of details...

Yay, it's finally done! And just in time for the convention last weekend... :thumbsup

I'm really happy with it, but unfortunately all the jewelry broke on my flight back home...:confused
At least I took lots of pictures in it!

Those are the only shots I got from the complete costume so far.
I'll have to wait for my friend's pictures...:unsure

I'll post some detail shots from the jewelry in a couple of days though!

Just got this picture of me and a Link I met at a convention. :cool

Uhm, yeah the background is obviously photoshopped...

I've been DYING to make this dress for the longest time.

It's definitely on my wish list - along with enough time to do all of the embroidery.

My bf wants a dark link costume so I think I might do some experimenting with makeup to make it a puppet zelda to accompany him in his evil ways, but I wouldn't want to distress the dress itself.

Anyways, as I start working on the project, I'll pop back in and share methods with you! :D You did a wonderful job! I agree, the dress is beautiful from head to toe!

Thank you!! And I'd love to see your WIP, so please share updates and pictures. :)

Unfortunately I didn't have time to do the embroidery on the bottom of the dress before the convention.
I was just glad to get the jewelry done. Here's a close-up of the crown:

I think you can spend months and months on this costume if you want to make it perfect... :rolleyes
Maybe I'll get back to it one day to fix the jewelry and finish the embroidery.
