Legend (1985) Unicorn horn

I love Ridley Scott's movie: Legend
This is the Unicorn Horn that the demon Darkness have cut from the unicorn's head.
It's 13" 2/4 long and is made from a thin metal rod with aluminum foil to bulk up and covered with Super sculpey.
The horn in the movie is based on Narwales horns and i tried to mix a sort of ivory color, and made the cutoff area look a little like stone.
For the texture at the cutoff area i used a stone and pressed it at the clay making it look the same.

It don't show up on the photos but I have sprayed it with a glitter hairspray, so it would look more like the one in the movie.
It glimmers in the light.

Forgive the bad colors in this photo, It don't looks like this in real life.

These photos shows the true color of the horn

Great work there! Legend is such visually stunning, and underrated film. Nice to see somebody make a prop from this movie:)

Man, that is weird!! I was just thinking about that prop this morning and how cool it would be to do it!

*Que creepy 50's sci-fi music*

Very well done!!

I love that movie. So much so that I had to buy a prop from it when one came available at Prop Store. Nice job on the horn.

Very cool!

I haven't seen many props from this film, but that is definitely the first horn I have seen made. It looks great too!

Have you given any thoughts to a display?

Chris

Great job! A favorite movie of mine too. I love the Sideshow Darkness statue that I got. Awesome piece.

"Black as night, black as pitch, blacker than the foulest witch!"

Nice work, very convincing! It looks pretty thick, did you build it up in layers, cooking it inbetween?

i made one about 3-4years ago, using super sculpey as well. i think i left it in my shed when i moved house as i cant find it anywhere!

mine didnt have as many "twists" on it and was a little larger by the looks of it.

nice job on it.

I been thinking about something to hold it up, No demon hand. Maybe some sort of statue that is shown in the movie.

Thanks
Yes, I built it up in layers. The first one to hide the aluminum foil, then i made two elongated pizza slices which i wrapped around the the baked shape.
Then I made the lines and baked it for the final time, about a hour and half.

echosintime on eBay always has casts of a real narwhal tusk listed. You can get the whole 5' tusk for about 200.00 or just the tip (18") for around 60.00.

One of these days, I want to get one of his tips and a good craggy horse skull, and make a good unicorn skull in a glass case w/ brass plaque for my steampunk library room. :)

That's you? Cool! I'll have to see about trading you out of one of those someday! :)
