LED Arc Reactor w/ adjustable brightness & remote control

This is something I quickly knocked together this morning. I took the cardboard arc reactor housing that I'd built a year or two ago, and installed a set of blue LED fairy lights.

The fairy lights are 5m long with 50 LEDs in total, and came with a remote control to adjust the brightness of the lights.

Today I started working on a custom-made harness that will allow me to wear the arc reactor underneath my shirt, based on Captain America's shield harness.

LED Arc Reactor w/ adjustable brightness & remote control

As promised, here's a photo of the arc reactor harness so far. I made this from 3mm craft foam using @SMPDesign's Captain America AoU shield harness pattern as a base.

To make the harness easier to wear, I cut open the left strap and added some Velcro tape.

I then started working on the front of the harness, where the arc reactor will be fitted. I started by cutting a rectangle out of card, and added two slots on either side (more on this in the next update.)

I then glued the arc reactor casing to this backing plate.

To attach the arc reactor to the harness, I cut the buckle off an elastic luggage strap I had in the project cupboard. I then stapled this to the first slot in the arc reactor backing plate.

I then attached the other side of the buckle to the harness with another strip of foam.

Finally, I cut off another length of the elastic strap and stapled it to the other side of the harness, looping it through the second slot in the cardboard backing plate.
