Leather help needed

Hey gang...making a leather bullwhip...out of kip....but I need to know what it is that you put on it afterwards that makes it all tighten up really good and smooth? Can anyone suggest a particular brand as well? Thanks!

Um...nothing.
Plait it tight...she'll be right.
Shellac makes it shiny. But I dont care for it.
