Latest NEWS on Blade Runner Blaster!!

This just in:

I won an auction on ebay that was for the small side knob on the right side of the Blaster.

It is here:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&item=110329085434

Of idem # 110329085434 if the link does not work.

I got this more to make sure we had our knobs right… and from the pictures below you can see we did.

Another note: as this clearly is brass with either blacking or black paint it shows why the knob is black but shows aged brass in the two slots added by the prop maker. To cut the slots you remove the black.

A little FYI.

I know that thread was what helped me be sure this was the right one, too bad I do not get along over there.

The one on my model was made up from scratch using a stunt casting as a guide, but I was not 100% sure we got it right...

Sure looks dead on.. only thing I am missing is those tiny teeth which is imposable to recreate.

If mine had not matched up I would have taken a mold off this one.

It just is nice to see how dead on we got this model. Of course working from Real Gun parts help get it so.

Like the fact that the Styer receiver has small marks where the stock goes, they don't seem to completely clean them up down there...this still shows on my models...

And I try to save the real parting lines from the real Styer Ammo Housing and ammo clip we molded off.

Tiny details lost when machining a model to look like a real manufactured gun part.

I try very hard to save them. They were/are there on the real prop.

I remember that auction ;) there's a whole discussion on the bind post knob over at propsummit http://www.propsummit.com/viewtopic.php?t=880

A) Yes for those on propsummit, B) the news is I got one and it matched what I already had.

I pointed out it was that thread that helped me know this was the right one.

Feel free to post a link to that thread for those that would like more infomation.

Thanks Andy.

Just picking on your thread title Rich. Beast posted the link to the thread from September at propsummit above. I also posted here back in October, but I didn't show the comparison photo until much later on prop summit.

RPF Thread...
http://therpf.com/showthread.php?t=51373&highlight=binding+post

I hope it can help your models.

I may also have found another cheap(er) source for these. I think I may be using all I have in my builds. There are some subtle variation in each of these as there was in the weaver knobs too.

Sounds like yours were made from the Stunt casts. I am guessing you cast one side twice and married them to make the whole post since they are attached on one side to the gun in the stunt casts. The cap on yours looks perfect and maybe more accurate than a real post. The stem looks like you totally recreated it.

Looks like you got it for a pretty good price too, congratulations.
