Last Week's Smallville - Spoilers!

I just caught up with the last episode of Smallville. I gotta say that the flash to the future really spoke to the fanboy in me. I could really see Tom and Erica pulling off a weekly Superman series.

And although I always enjoy watching Erica on TV (eyecandy), I never really think of her as a strong actress. On two occasions, she has really surprised me. Once was the episode where she and Clark were chained to chairs across from each other and were being tortured. She is forced to confess her love for him.

The other is at the end of Thursday's episode, where once again she tells him that she loves him. She is caught off-guard and even a little embarrassed.

Maybe it's the character the way she's written, or the way Erica plays Lois. It always come across as kind of "fake". Those two particular scenes really strike me as being real... as if Erica is able to break through the role and be herself.

I dunno... what do you guys think?

That also makes two flying teases in a row. They hold off til may to deal with that and it's just pathetic.

As to your point, though, i think it's the way it's written. They get out of HS, spend about 1/2 a semester at college then while chloe's working for the Planet, she's doing tabloid stuff. They've put the character through way too much of non-essential junk it seems. Plus, she's had to sit on the sidelines as a character (writing) and actress while they dealt with clark and lana at least twice, clark fearing being close to her could put her in jeopardy, her with Oliver, etc, etc. Only now are they finally starting to write her as the Lois we all know. Seems like they had too much trouble getting there though.

I think the last few episodes have been great. I'm not so sure about the next one (based on the trailer).

Tom Welling's future Clark was much more like George Reeves than Christopher Reeve. I liked it.

I would agree. I've been watching Smallville since the beginning, and, IMHO, the last few seasons have been pretty weak.

I guess with this being their last season, they are pulling out all the stops, and Friday's episode was one of their best in a long time. I would have liked to have seen Clark spend more time in the future, but I can see why that would have been hard to pull off.

Nevertheless, great episode. I hope the rest of the season follows suit.

I thought it was a great episode, but it should have been saved for a Christmas special as it reminded me too much about A Christmas Carol. It was nice to see Superman, even if it was just a blur of red.

Agreed with all of the positive remarks. I really enjoyed the episode for a number of reasons, most of which revolve around the Lois/Clark syndrome. TOTALLY would love to see a weekly lois/clark style series, though it will never happen. The scenes of them working at the planet together were really great. And while they have clearly strayed from canon, I'm kinda diggin' it. I like that lois knows he is the blur, but is playing it cool to keep the dynamic going. I think that's a neat twist, and they're doing it well.

I have heard SOME discussion from the folks running the show that they are NOT going to wait until the last episode to sort of resolve everything. I get the feeling that the next few episodes will actually see clark turning into something more of a hero, and less of a struggling half-baked. We shall see.

When I heard the episode was going to be yet another show doing "A Christmas Carol" I was worried.
I turned out pleasantly surprised. They used the story to get Clark out of the annoying "it's all my fault" mopery, showed a future we can appreciate, brought back a character from the first season briefly to good effect and the bit with Ollie and the interviewer was great.:thumbsup
