Had a lot of fun, somehow didn't win best costume (that went to a guy wearing a red waistcoat and plastic horns, philistines)

If you go to a Halloween party to win a contest you are usually disappointed. People are whimsical.
The real joy is seeing the look on people's faces when they see your costume.

I've found if the costume is too good people assume it's been bought and move straight on. Definately agree with joeranger.

Ha, we didn't go expecting to win, didn't know it was a competition until about half way through the night. And frankly the devil guy deserved to win simply because he's probably still trying to remove all the red makeup on his face

This year, I went to a small costume competition at bar in full GB gear, and didn't even place in the top 5. One of the winners was just wearing a wig. A lot of folks came up afterwards to say how dumb that was, but I'd seen threads like this before and knew that sometimes it goes down like that.

This pic needs to be framed and hung on the wall! Great pic!

In regards to the contest... Every year I enter a costume contest in my little Podunk town of 50k I am never prepared for the disappointment that is sure to follow, whether it be a totally original hand crafted piece that I put hundreds of hours with blood sweat and tears, or a thousand + screen quality suit they are simply never good enough to compare to the amazing contestants that purchased there Walmart costumes hours before the competition.
