Laser Sight units on T2 Resistance weapons

I'm wondering if anybody could offer any idea as to what the laser sighting units (fitted to the Muzzelite Bullpups in the Future War sequence) are made from?

Apologies for the large pictures!

I figure the rear part is a slide viewer with other parts cobbled on, but I cannot for the life of me find anything anywhere hinting at what it could be attached to the viewer or muzzelite rail. All my ref searches have only been able to come up with the base gun, and a few guesses as to the slide viewer.:unsure
I have an Endo rifle vs Resistance rifle display planned, and would like to get the resistance weapon as accurate as I can.
I realise this may be really old news to some of you more experienced guys out there, but any help with part Id's would be very much appreciated :thumbsup

I have no idea what it is. I think the slide viewer part is a good guess.

I just took a bunch of screencaps of every decent shot I could get of the 'scope.'

Worst case scenario: you can build a replica that matches the general size, shape and large details.

Thanks for the input guys. I wouldn't be surprised if it was a custom made piece, but looking at Sith Sheriff Brody's clearer screen caps (thanks man!) I can't help but think it is some kind of older model "laser" unit or tactical flashlight. Weapons accessories were pretty bulky back then compared to what they are today.

One thing I have noticed through ref searching is that a few prop muzzelite castings made appearances in Seaquest DSV, with what looks like the front portion of the scope chopped and re positioned onto the front of the carry handle rail. Looking through various prop collection sites, I found these:
(Apologies if these are your prop pics. If you want them removed just pm me)

Is it possible that the same props were used in this show, albeit somewhat modified?

Once again, thanks Sith Sheriff Brody for the great screencaps. They should come in handy should I choose to scratch build this.

Anymore info out there? I think we can nail what this piece is...:)

I thought it was one of those viewers film makers used to frame and plan shots.

I'm not sure how to better describe it, you often see them hanging around the necks of directors when they are on the set. They look through it to see how the shot will look on the actual camera?

I politely disagree: Those shot-framing thingies are usually cylindrical (IIRC) and probably no bigger than a fist. It looks (to me) like the end part of the T2 sights are boxy and larger than a fist. Slide viewers seem like a logical choice: they've been used before for props (Aliens motion detector), are hollow and can be lit relatively easily, and they're cheap. I suspect those shot-framing thingies have a lens or two in them and probably ain't too cheap.

Megamicrofish, thanks for sharing. I'm staring to sound like one of the old farts now, but I do love to see people share information freely. Google image searches got me nowhere on this. I checked the 8-minute behind the scenes feature on my DVD, I checked the Internet Movie Firearms DataBase, I checked The Terminator Files.com, I checked OutNow for decent shots of the future war stuff. I even flipped through The Winston Effect. Oddly enough, the only thing I didn't go through is my Making of T2 trade paperback - It's in a box somewhere...

Shingouki, I'm glad you could use those caps :) Please show us your progress. What did the Muzzelite stock cost? I've considered getting one, just for fun.

Hi to all, I'm kind of new to the forum, but I have the answer for you. The laser unit is from Imatronics and is called the LS 45 Laser Aiming System. It is a Class 2 laser and runs on 2 9v batteries. Hope the info helps.

An older thread but thought this would be of interest. These were sitting in a parts bin along side some mini 14 bullpups. Considering where they are from and the location, I think these are the real deal. There are exploded old AA batteries in the viewfinder/light bulb sections.

Ill see about matching the rifles up to the laser sights in the coming weeks. There were some shotguns and other items in the same lot.

Seems to be the same monitor on the T2 laser than the one on the Aliens motion tracker!?

Great pic Rob!

Thanks to Rob's post on this thread and other info on this site, I am close to having all the components for my Future War Resistance Rifle. I don't know if this site is using official canon but it lists the weapon as a Westinghouse M-30A1 Plasma Carbine.

My components based on Rob's pic above. The "monitor" behind the LS45 is definitely a Pana-Vue 2 slide viewer (available on Amazon) although it looks like they've changed the internal design slightly. In Rob's photo it looks like they wired the battery compartment so the lightbulb is on all the time once the batteries are installed. For the stock panavue2, you press a button on the top and the bulb stays on as long as you hold the button down. They may have placed a cyan-colored film in the viewer for that powered up monitor look.

What it will look like sitting on the weapon.

Any comments, info or ideas are welcome.
