Large scale Millennium Falcon Kit ID's**New Maps at start of thread**

Nice going Craig. You're pretty lethal at this now!

I'll amend the Stb mandible map as that large square part is noted as a 312B at moment. I must have got carried away!

I'm also looking for some images we can use for the blueprint thread. We have that well used top view of the ILM model but we haven't got anything else that would work for the rest of the elevations as far as I know? How about we use some commercial blue prints which have been done as a reference but then annotate the correct dimensions, or has anyone got a decent 3D model we could derive elevations from? They wouldn't have kit parts shown but as long as we get the right dims noted it would still be useful? - any thoughts?

Finally found the wheel - and more on the Matilda plate from the same kit! Here's what's left on that baby. Taking baby steps but there's some satisfaction seeing parts come together!

I was going to put this in Eagle1's 5ft Falcon build thread but did not want to detract from his epic adventure.

Anyway, I was looking at some new images of the cockpit of the 5ft Falcon when I realised something interesting that I had never noticed before. I just thought I would post this in case others like me, weren't aware of it.

The cockpit has a cap at the front of it and where I had previously known of the "scalloping" of the edges I didn't notice the hexagonal shape around the centre window. It's only just barely discernable in the first image so I highlighted in the second image below.

However, it can be seen more clearly in this image.

Yup, same thing as the scalloping on the rear edges. Build up from styrene sheet maybe? On the window sections it would allow clear sheet or slide glass panels, if they were still planning on using glass that late? Pure speculation, have never read anything about it.

Couldnt find a picture of what i mean, But octagon shape is the nut part. The closest I could find a picture is below. But the ones I am thinking of are solid and screw into inspection sections of plumbing bends. The reason I feel this is the case is that I believe they used a stink pipe cover for the canopy, and then the plumbing cap for the the nose.

A thick piece of styrene, with the windows cut out, then the front sections filed down on an angle.

I seen a photo, just can't recall where.....

Don't forget that the cockpit, and the radar dish, were the Blockade Runner's before being swapped to the Falcon. I think there's a photo that shows it being made out of the same clear acrylic as the rest of that ship? I'll look for that.

I have a long move ahead of me soon, so all my kits are going into storage for the time being. I'll leave with this to add to the list:

Nooooo, what's this, going AWOL?. Hope your'e not going to be out of action for too long Craig?. Done a few moves myself recently, it's torture not being able to get to your stash.

Nice Matilda plate , youv'e nailed that area for sure!.

Haha, it should only be about a month, Stu. So when I get back into things, I should expect you'll be putting the finishing touches on an awesome model!

Whew!, only a month, that's a relief mate.:)

Yeah, I should be placing the masking tape on the hull for the final colors by the time you get back:lol

I wish too!:behave

Re: Large scale Millennium Falcon Kit ID's

The missing truck is the AMT California Hauler. I found that because it was used on the side of the Blockade Runner. Actually the BR and the Falcon share many, many kits! Who's game on multitasking? :lol

I came maddeningly close but still looking for this one:

Ooooo, so close on that part Craig, I'm still hunting for it, it's maddening alright:rolleyes
California Hauler eh, another one for the list then.

Hey can anyone confirm for sure, is the Nitto 1/76th M3A1 Halftrack the same as the Fujimi version?. Maybe just re-boxed by Fujimi after Nitto went out of business?. I'm after the parts for the top turret if you hadn't guessed:lol

Stu

Nice find Craig, once again!. Does this mean that all four short sections ( 2 on each mandible side) are the Californian Hauler?

Also, from what I can see on Ebay the basic rig is a Peterbilt 359. Do you think it has to be the Californian version or would any 1/25 359 be ok?

Hope the move goes ok

Cheers
Nick

Starboard side is White Road Boss, Nick.

There are probably re-boxings but I can't say for sure which one. I got the one that was on the ILM shelves.
