Large scale Millennium Falcon Kit ID's**New Maps at start of thread**

Re: Large scale Millennium Falcon Kit ID's

Hi all,

I have a quick question;

Has the kitparts inside the six engine vents been identified? They look like some sort of turbine with a round disc on top.

Re: Large scale Millennium Falcon Kit ID's

Practical cooling fans, I always thought?

Re: Large scale Millennium Falcon Kit ID's

Do you have a link or reference images of what they look like?

Re: Large scale Millennium Falcon Kit ID's

I don't recall where I read it from but it mentions that the lights in the 5-footer got so hot they needed cooling fans. Whatever the reason, it made the engine deck look so cool. Always wanted to see what the real ones look like too - whether the fan tops are dome-shaped or flat. Hard to see the shape in this Forbidden Plastic photo:

They are dome/dish shaped. I have some pix somewhere. Could be guy's pix . I'll have a look.

Re: Large scale Millennium Falcon Kit ID's

They look like they are regular muffin fans to me.

Re: Large scale Millennium Falcon Kit ID's

I think...

Edit: could also be 1/48. Having trouble finding a vintage 1/35 version that had the skirts. Italeri's 1/72 does, and Tamiya did a 1/48 which also does.

Do you have a better picture of the Schürzen ?

The one from the vintage Tamiya kit looks like that (well I cut it quite a bit) :

You can get an idea of the size with the parts next to it : 1/35 Croc part, 1/700 Gneisenau turret, 1/35 Mobelwagen side armor shield etc...

Re: Large scale Millennium Falcon Kit ID's

Thanks, Julien. Not sure offhand, will have a hunt through my stash.

In the meantime, here's a first draft kit list. I just thought a list could be a useful cross-reference, which I could keep up to date as Nick updates his maps. Yes? Don't worry about the missing parts maps, I'm only up to map 10 - will add in the rest during the week.

Anyone care to throw up any corrections or additions? The few manufacturer kit numbers I have added in so far are mostly iffy placeholders and there are a number of kits which were either not confirmed or I haven't doublechecked the discussion yet, so probably some pruning required.

Edit: if anyone has a kit that is listed and isn't easy to get, and is willing to mould it or make it available for moulding, please sing out and I'll add your details to the 'group has' and/or 'casting' columns, if you're happy to be in that...

Just a minor correction. The Tamiya 1/35 Federal German Leopard should actually be Kampfpanzer Leopard.

Re: Large scale Millennium Falcon Kit ID's

Just wondering if there is any interest in cast parts for this build? I'll be casting up the parts for the inside mandible walls hopefully this weekend. Also the 312 engine part for the mandible front. I'll then be moving on to the larger plates that are repeated all over the ship. I'll also cast up the m23 parts as there is a lot of them required for this build.

Yeah I'd be interested to see what you come up with mate, especially the inside mandible walls.
Not so much the M23 parts as I got a ton of these parts off ebay from a seller that lists quite a few of the kits sprues. Luckily they are the sprues we need multiples of. Last time I looked he still had them for sale. Better to have the 'plastic' than casts.

Hey, did you cast some of the mandible pits, I think you mentioned in a previous post you intended to do so. Be keen to see those too.
Cheers
Stu

Re: Large scale Millennium Falcon Kit ID's

hello, do have you the measurement or a plan with quote of the 5 foot falcon ?

sorry if it's a re-post :angel

Re: Large scale Millennium Falcon Kit ID's

Well done, Tsophika.

Hey Stu, my search-fu has failed horribly again. Got any tips for finding that M23 seller, mate?
