Re: Large scale Millennium Falcon Kit ID's

Looks like it could be the upper railing off the sealab.

Re: Large scale Millennium Falcon Kit ID's

Hi Chris, hi everyone.
Heres what i've found looking at some pics.
It seems to be the same radar dish and base. The thing is that the base is turned 180° now a days from when Star Wars was filmed. So the detail we see on the screen caps of the support on the dish are now looking to the cockpit side of the Falcon, and the dish is been turned upside down as one can see looking to the wethering spots I circled in red in the picture below:

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

In the pics taken now a days you can also see the little spots were the railling used to be pasted on the Saturn V part. All these leds me to believe it is the same radar, what do you think?

The pic with the yellow frame is the Big Radar Dish Model.

What remains a mystery to me is what did they use for the Radar Dish :confused
Anyone knows?

Yes ... your right ... they turned it 180°. So its the same dish. Only the railling is missing.

Now I need the help of you all. Does someone have some good photos of this part? It would be very helpfull for me to finish the details on the top of my CGI Falcon.

TIA

Chris

Hey thanks for the Bandai 8 ton info Rodmart, very informative!.
Another good donor, nice find.
I'm certain the radar dish is from Plastruct 6" (152.4mm) dish. Pics below.

swgeek, that looks like it could be the right railing, at least it's from a known donor, nice find mate!.

Re: Large scale Millennium Falcon Kit ID's

So that ring is an other mysterious kit!:cry

I don´t think they modified that detail, they must have broken it as so many other missing parts. I remember reading on the MAKING OF STAR WARS book that four people carried the 5 footer to and after the shots because it was too heavy. So you can imagine 8 hands pressing those poor kit parts! Like in this pic:

Rod

For the most part they used handles inserted into the side walls to carry, lift and maneuvre the 5ft'er. It has 4 attachment points (holes, as seen in the attached image below) on either side of both docking rings where they inserted the handles which can be seen being used in the above image.

That doesn't mean they didn't put their hands directly on the model but it would have limited the number of times they need to do this. These holes were not covered during filming either.

Re: Large scale Millennium Falcon Kit ID's

Found these 2 'missing' parts from the original condition Falcon, no longer present, just empty spaces now.:cry
They are from the Tamiya 1/25th Centurion.
Clearly visible in the 'Chronicles' book.

I think the pic is Martyn's, if so, thanks mate.

You are absolutely right! Great sight mate!
We will have to make a good ID pic of everything we are finding!

Re: Large scale Millennium Falcon Kit ID's

Hi leukirix !

You are right.:) We can use Tamiya 1/6 Honda 750CB four.
And Police type.

[edit] However, there are the same two parts because this racer's front disk brakes are on right and left both sides.
The market type and the police type are each one.
Which moto do you choose ? :love

But we can't use Tamiya 1/6 Honda 750CB-F.(Not CB four) :confused

That part(our needs) is front brake caliper part. This is single piston caliper.
But 750CB-F has twin pistons caliper.

[edit] (750CB-F was put on the market in 1979.)

So, We should take care about this. :lol

(The pic of parts from 750CB four)

Heller has a 1/8 Honda CB750FOUR. I purchased this kit looking for motorcycle parts on other SS builds and it never matched. I'll shoot some picts.

Re: Large scale Millennium Falcon Kit ID's

The MF0031.1 one of the yellow parts, the one with the two holes and it looks like a fin, is from the Tyrrell ELF a known donar for Star Wars and Galactica builders. Sorry. I just finished reading the entire thread and saw someone had already identified it.

A couple small parts for the docking rings here from the Sherman and Hanomag.

Re: Large scale Millennium Falcon Kit ID's

I just checked some of the photos of the radar dish and it appears to be the same dish except it has be turned 180 degrees which means it can be rotated and/or detached.

Here's a part ID I hope will help. In MF010-1.2 part number 3 from the Bandai 1/24 M-60 is sitting on top of the entire lower body of the McLaren M23.

Re: Large scale Millennium Falcon Kit ID's

Here are some picts to show theTamiya 1/12 McLaren M23 part and the part with the Bandai 1/24 M-60 and Tamiya 1/25 Centurion MkIII parts on it.

Re: Large scale Millennium Falcon Kit ID's

Hi Mark,

Nice find, thanks for that and for the breakdown pics. I do glance at this thread when I can and wonder, wistfully when I'm going to get a chance to pick it up again and compile the new info that has been noted. I'll get back on this soon.

Cheers

Re: Large scale Millennium Falcon Kit ID's

I'm glad I was able to id one for you guys :) I have so many of the kits needed for the Falcon. Funny thing is, if you're building anything from Battlestar Galactica, you have what they had to build Star Wars! I'm currently in the molding phase of my studio scale Base Star: Studio Scale Base Star - Resin Illuminati
I haven't updated the thread for a while but the project is in the molding process. The first parts for the prototype are coming this weekend. All the floors and then the walls and then the larger panels. I'm actually getting excited about it getting so near the kit phase. But thanks to the Base Star and related Galactica models, I have many of the common and rare kits needed for the Falcon! I am looking to build the ANH version but will also build the added structures to be able to add and remove, via magnets under the skins and in the landing gear boxes. I will only be missing the weathering around the boxes but,,,,,, but I can add and remove them, as I want too :) sort of a 2 for 1 build ;-) I have to say you guys are a super group and I hope I can contribute more ID's.

Thanks for allowing me to be part of your group!

Re: Large scale Millennium Falcon Kit ID's

Hey, no problem the more keen eyes and large kit archives the better!

Funnily enough I have also started to scope out a Battlestar, and made contact with Charles re blueprints. I knew that the ILM model shop had pretty much finished Star Wars and then run on into the build for Galactica so there should be some commonality re the kits used.

Sounds like you have ambitious plans yourself. I'd love a Basestar!...provided I could convince my girlfriend it was a novelty coffee table or something...

Re: Large scale Millennium Falcon Kit ID's

Thanks Nick. I spent the weekend going through all my 1/72, 1/76 and 1/48 kits looking for parts on the guns. I found two little parts from a 1/72-1/76 US half track. Strange thing is, there is the back of a half track aft of the gun in front of the grill detail that looks like a Stug vent. I looked thrugh all my 1/35 Tamiya half tracks, both long and short box releases, no luck. It appears to be more inline with a 1/48 scale at largest based on the two small parts I found. I have already checked my Bandai 1/48 half track, not a match. I will shoot picts of the small parts tomorrow. The guns and it's surrounding structure and area are hard to find good picts of without the damage to them.
And I still have to shoot picts of the Heller 1/8th Honda CB750FOUR. It's a vintage kit with a kit number of L983 on the box.

Re: Large scale Millennium Falcon Kit ID's

Here's the part from the Nitto 1/76 M3A1 Half Track that sits on the flat surface under and behind the gun.

Re: Large scale Millennium Falcon Kit ID's

Here's the Heller 1/8 Honda CB750FOUR kit to look through.

Re: Large scale Millennium Falcon Kit ID's

Hey Mark, great to have another IDer mate!.
Your idea with the removable front landing gear boxes sounds great, not sure how it would affect the pit areas though, still would be cool to have both versions!.
Is the Heller bike kit a donor, if so I didn't know about this one, so thanks. Great scans too BTW.
