Large scale Millennium Falcon Kit ID's**New Maps at start of thread**

Re: Large scale Millennium Falcon Kit ID's

Hi fellas!
Nice job Nwerke, sent you MP but your inbox is full mate:)
Simon, I think you are quite close with 5mm for the gap between the Chevy chasis and the Pontoon. I estimated a width of 0,144" or 0,37 cm. I had never realised about that gap, I took a look to the B&W pics and there it was, good work! I corrected the blueprints with this new data.
The gap looks the same on both mandibles:

Hi Martyn,

Any chance you could do some decent sprue pics of the La France?

I second that Nick! It would rock to have nice scans of the LaFrance!!:cool:thumbsup
and the length of the chasis part!

Re: Large scale Millennium Falcon Kit ID's

Just a quick note, Rodmart, the gap appears to be wider on the starboard mandible. Your pics both show the port mandible. :)

Re: Large scale Millennium Falcon Kit ID's

What are you guys doing about the part ILM had injection molded - the Falcon's engine outlet parts that are also seen holding down the L'eggs eggs on the Y-Wing?

Thanks for the tip Nwerke!
I measured the gap of the Starboard mandible from the VEH_IA_838.jpg pcture. I do not have a good picture of the port mandible to compare. So the measure I gave above is not from the gap shown in the color pics:behaveSorry!

ILM Injection molded J? Its a kit part, from the Kettengrad.

Well, I'll be able to model and 3D print anything that can't be found. Originally my interest in the Falcon was due to working on a digital version. But after reading everything that's been shared and learning about this ship I'm gung-ho to at least create a few sub-assemblies. The best reference to have are the parts sitting in front of you. :)

It's that and more...

Re: Large scale Millennium Falcon Kit ID's

I have a really nice pattern of the part, that was made after the MR one was made, which I had cast and retrofitted to my old-pattern Neisen builds. His new kit has basically the same assembly - was just puttying them tonight, which is why it is in my forebrain.

If you guys want/need the part I had made a few years ago, we could get 'em cast for these builds? You need a BUNCH.

Re: Large scale Millennium Falcon Kit ID's

I have enough at the moment for one Y-Wing (they are now redundant, as the new Y kit addressed the problem!) - I think Acme did them the last time - I can check to see if they have the molds still... otherwise, I can add it to the Sealab Falcon "set" which I'm having Mike offer in the first wave. Poor Mike...

Here's the ones I have:

I can have him do these too:

(Martyn - it pays to be a Yokoyama-recipe-hoarder!)

Which Cb750? I have that kit in a couple of scales (again, MaK donor stuff that's a happy crossover)

Re: Large scale Millennium Falcon Kit ID's

Hey Jason, that would be much appreciated if you added those parts to the proposed cast Falcon set mate, any idea timeframe wise?.
Cheers

Craig that's looking sweet mate. I love you're cg model.

DON'T IT JUST, lol! I had all the Esci 1/9 already, largely cannibalized long time back of course so I've got some new stuff coming in, but I'm still fishing out useful multiples. I'd really hate to try to cast those R75 saddlebag parts.

The dozer blades would be a very big plus but would they be gang moulded from casts? I'd been mulling doing that myself, but the idea of casts-of-casts kind of puts me off. OTOH I'm in no way insane enough to buy 13 M8 kits...was thinking of simply making five or six separate moulds off the same blade.

Is anyone interested in pooling M8 dozer blades? I would totally volunteer mine for that if others would be in it...

The big Tamiya CB750 Racing. There are three variants - police, civilian and a cafe racer. Guess which one is rare, expensive...and the only correct one? :unsure

Edit: there's the CB750F as well, which is a later kit that's completely different. The Police and Civilian versions do have some parts which were used but only the Racing has all of them. It's currently most commonly available as a pre-built.

Oh me of little faith! I should have known. Yes, that's the ref of choice. :)

Re: Large scale Millennium Falcon Kit ID's

Ahh. Of course, I don't have the racer. Looks like a $150 kit or so? Not too horriffic, but still. Mike would probably cast the blade in an expensive no-shrink resin to get enough to gang. It's a good method. Timeframe... Soon-ish? You guys racing a clock or some deadline? He's finishing up Y-wings, then he can get to my Sealab.

Re: Large scale Millennium Falcon Kit ID's

I paid about $220 but that was after a bad day at work and I just hit 'buy it now'. Patience would likely help turn one up cheaper.

Can only speak for myself but I'm not in any mad rush.
