Cheers guys. I should say Matt these are not period acurate for the 1950s LAPD, they were just made for the film. If you look at the later posts in the Joe Friday thread you'll see what they really look like.

I don't know why they didn't use the correct card in LA Confidential :confused

Yeah, I know they aren't 100% accurate to the actual LAPD cards, but they certainly capture the spirit.

The badges from the film are also incorrect a fair bit as well. It's certainly possible the LAPD asked for then to be less than 100% accurate; they can be very picky about their designs. It's also possible the prop people figured "close enough" was good enough for their needs.

The badges remind me of those flat LAPD repros that used to be everywhere a few years back, I think they were from Germany. I wonder if the prop guys used the same maker.
