Léon: The Professional Vest Help

A close mate of my wife's is looking at doing a Leon: The Professional costume. I was just wondering if anyone could help me with this as I've landed the task of sourcing the vest. He wants the costume to be as close to movie accurate as possible. Any info on this would be greatly appreciated!

I was wondering if you have more details about the vets? Thickness of leather what kind of hide, pattern, where or how you found the front clasp?
I'm kinda working a budget so I don't want to make 2 if I can help it..How much did the vest coast? I may need to save up more $$$
In my opinion the vest is the key to this costume.
Maybe just some close ups of some of the details with a ruler?

what are the black rings that connect the belt to the vest?
