Just caught the last half of this movie last night as a friend was watching it on Netflix. I thought it was really really interesting but the rest of my friends who had seen the whole thing were unimpressed at best. Anyone else see it? Thoughts on it being nominated for an Academy Award?

Omigod, reading the Wiki entry for this is nearly as bad as doing the same for "The Human Centipede".

Disturbingly close to the Fritzl case in Austria. Ugh!

I think I'm going to watch the first half of it right now over dinner : )

Never heard of the Fritzl case, I'll go give it a look. This kind of stuff is really interesting to me in a morbid sort of way.

Fritzl case = dungeon, incest, rapes numbering way into four figures, multiple impregnations and multi-decade imprisonment. So yeah, if you're looking for morbid, it's tops.

Was big news when the story broke - how'd you miss that one?

I skimmed over the wiki and I DO remember that one. Guess the name escaped me.
Watched the whole of Dogtooth and it ended up being pretty spectacular. Had me up reading about feral children and stuff all night :]
