Kylo Ren: lightsaber build

Hi everyone, have been online here for a while now and haven't actively done anything so here's a try.

So I'm making a Kylo Ren lightsaber replica + display, this is the basic idea. I'll be 3d-printing a file that I found on myminifactory, @Cemal Cetinkaya, thanks for that. So the file is not mine, all credit goes to him.

This is the print I'm using, with the only difference that I won't be having the big wire that is across the 3 pieces. I'll try doing that with real wires to give it a more realistic look.

For the display, I'm still thinking of several options. E.g. horizontal or vertically. I'll see what looks best.

I hope to bring this to a succes.

Looks good ... though I personally have no feelings towards the design of this saber yet, until I've seen it in action on the big screen ... I suggest you give it a nice paintjob and don't forget some weathering :)

Thanks for the advice, I was planning on using metallic/aluminum spraypaint to give it the real authentic shiny look, probably gonna make some holes where the screws are and put real screws in there.

Don't worry, something tells me come December, EVERYONE is going to love this saber.

My thoughts exactly, was the same with the Darth Maul saber. As a whole, I like the look of Kylo Ren though.

After a long brake due to work, I finally started painting the 1st set (thinking of making a mold of the second set, not sure though).

11736902_509504319202187_1875790253_n.jpg It's chrome paint, I though it would be the "closest" to a metal-ish look. Im concindering of painting the inside of the first part (where the wires are) black, not movie accurate but I think it will look cooler if it isn't the same as the rest.

Now waiting until tomorrow to give them a second layer and later giving it real wires and so on.
It might actually look nice in the end.

Searched around the house for a red wire and found one who is about what I needed.
10720943_509866892499263_418258629_n.jpgIn the pic, it has had 2 layers of paint. Now it's "resting" with the 3rd layer drying up (wasn't really planning on doing 3, but since it got stuck to the table and lost some paint in the process of getting it unstuck, a 3rd layer it was), an extra layer is never bad, it'll help cover the printing lines.

I'm not really happy about the details in the center piece, while painting that, I'll try and fix that though.

For the small chanse anyone still cares, but you never know.
So, made some progress today, Everything is actually drying, than the final touch can go in place what the display concerns.
Haven't really done anything about the lightsaber since last time, but doesn't need too much work anymore too.

If anyone is interested in more pictures, feel free to ask, unlikely though. But still, I'll be posting the full thing when everything is done.

So, as I said, here's a picture of the finished lightsaber. I know it took me way too much time for something that small, but oh well, I had fun doing the "project". The display isn't done yet since I don't have an engraving-tool myself I still need to go to a friend of mine. All together I'm still pleased with how it ended up looking, sure thing if you keep in mind it was my first thing.. ever.

That looks amazing :D you planning on weathering it at all? a few washes of black will make that thing pop!

Thanks a lot! And I'm thinking about it, at the moment it's standing in open air, gathering a bit of dust to let it look older and used. When My exams are over I'm going to look into weathering it.
I should have actually finished this build ages ago, but I'm a bit short in time due to school. Gonna try and finish this as soon as possible.
