Here's a kit I'm building up for Kurt made by Scott Alexander. I got it all together and primered and now I'll start the paint job. This is a beautiful kit, I wish I had one LOL.

This should be fun to watch - my kit is in the mail to me right now, so
I'll be watching this thread with interest.

TOS, right...? Not ST-TMP...

LOLOLOLOL... think in between those two screened pieces to things that never came to be... that is where you will find the answer you seek Rob! ;)

It will be one of a kind for a while... until replicated by others later. :)

The TOS (Rodenberry Edition) Scott did for me is BEAUTIFUL! :D

Richard will make this second "unique" piece even more phenominal I am sure! :D

That's a Panavise telescoping mount.

Kurt gave me artists license with this, so I got my inspiration from the Phase II cruiser that never was.
Here's the first few layers of paneling, now I'll start minor weathering and paint in the other details.

Man o man, that looks like a beautiful piece of kit (recollecting my AMT verison :cry ) Looking cool Rel.

Looks fantastic! This cruiser looks to be along the lines of the "Trials and Tribbleations" version original D7 . Am I correct? I did my small Polar Lights Kit in a similar fashion. Is this build going to be lit?
On another note: Richard, is the K'Tinga Cruiser still on the to do list in the future? The quick build you did a couple of months ago was amazing.
Can't wait to see this one finished!

That is one sweet paint job. And you're right it is a very nice kit
I'm working on the only one I'll probably ever get for myself so I had to go traditional, but if I had another one to "spend", I'd cetrtainly go with a larger version of my "T&T" template set.

HOLY SCHNOKERED ROBOTS BATMAN!!!! :eek

I don't know what else to say except...

DUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUDE!!! :D :D :D

You never cease to amaze me sir! ;) (y)cool:thumbsup

Fan-Tastic!

And congratulations to Kurt for a new piece and to you Richard for producing yet another fine work of art!

Can I ask how you do your masking, REL? Do you do it by hand, with bits of tape cut out with a scalpel, or do you make computer-generated masks or something? I'm curious how you keep everything so sharp and symmetrical on a complex scheme like this one. Nice work.

OH MY LORD!!! THAT IS BEAUTIFUL!!!! :eek:eek:eek

What a GREAT variant to what is usual to the D7! (y)cool:thumbsup

Richard.... using the Phase II D7 as an inspiration for this one hit the target on the mark! I know it isn't an exact replica of the Phase II, but it has the "UNIQUENESS" I was looking for! :cool

PERFECT my friend! :D And Thank You! :):)

That looks fantastic. Y'know, I was a little wry at the browner hues of the pattern against the light grey at first, but now that it's all done with the rest of the ships extra details, I think it looks and blends together great, and totally works. :thumbsup (y)thumbsup Fantastic job sir.

I know it shows up as browns in the pictures, but it's actually golds, bronzes and greenish silver. It really shines in person.

The whole thing was painted with Metallic Sahara Gold mixed with a little black to darken it, then I laid the aztec masks down.

Then I sprayed the surface with Metallic Solid Bronze mixed with silver and white for the lighter aztecs. Then the entire surface was sprayed with a mix of silver, white and transparent green.
