Kroenen: Mencken Library Costume WiP

I've pretty much got everything together for this costume but I'm having some trouble finding material for the undersuit.

http://www.propstore.com/full-image.htm?imageId=50937

Looking at the Propstore photos and description of the movie suit I thought it could be a matt pvc, I then thought it might be a smoothskin neoprene. But I'm just not sure those fabrics have the particular characteristics on display here.
I'd be intersted in hearing other opinions on the matter. Thanks.

Re: Kroenen undersuit material, suggestions?

Looks like neoprene to me. I think if tailored extremly well then it would display the same features shown on the propstore pictures :)

Re: Kroenen undersuit material, suggestions?

I own a screen-used undersuit & it seems to be made out of the same materials as my scuba diving wetsuit... hope that helps. Good Luck

That is a Hell of a nice display. Thanks for sharing.
Would you say it was thinner than your wetsuit, would you know what sort of thickness I should be looking for?
0.5mm, 1.0mm, 1.5mm?

I bought some thin neoprene for my wife's Zam a while back from http://stretchhouse.com/neoprene.htm

The price was reasonable and it arrived quickly. The only problem I had was I had to call them and give them my card number over the phone.

Re: Kroenen undersuit material, suggestions?

:confused Hmmm, well I'm stumped. Closest I can find is 2mm/3mm smoothskin. I think it may be a bit too ridgid for my requirements.

There seems to be loads of Chinese companies turning out sheets of 0.5mm but they are only willing to deal in high quantity orders.

Any helpful folk out there got a lead on 0.5mm smoothskin neoprene?

No luck as yet. Awaiting a few samples.
I'm sorely tempted to buy the real one from Propstore, but I wouldn't feel quite right wearing it about knowing it's the screen used prop.

Fixed up my gloves.

Quite reasonable, £30 about $50. Got 'em off ebay, someone had bought the wrong size. I just blacked out the graphics.

And I picked up some vintage officer boots

I was wondering if anyone out there had the United Cutlery Sword of Kroenen and wouldn't mind sharing the dimensions of the blade and handle/fixtures?

Danke schoen.

Breakthrough! managed to source the fabric. This stuff looks spot on.
One more test fitting and I'll be ready to Ragnarok 'n Roll!

Have you tried looking at dancewear? Looks alot like the undersuit Stormtroopers use. Mine is a cotton lycra blend. Either that or check those alternative lifestyle sites. Lots of jumpsuits with hoods built into them already. Mostly PVC stuff but sometimes you can find Lycra. The place I got my suit was the same they used for the Disney troopers. I think they either went out of business or changed names. Dance sites carry undersuits as well.
Neoprene I think you'd die in it without having a cooling system. I have a 2mm wetsuit and don't lose much heat in the water. Springsuits would be a good alternative but usually come as shorts and longsleeves. It's much thinner than neoprene too.

Yeah looked all over for the stuff, but finally found it. It's about 0.2mm rubberised with a soft fabric backing.
The guy who's putting it together for me called me in for a test fit today. He made the prototype one up in a shiny stretch pvc. I put it on and looked like a total Gimp :lol
Luckily the fabric we got for the finished suit is a dull rubber just like the movie suit.
