Kratos Blades

Hello All,

My first project of 2012, requested by a friend for his birthday/ halloween. The Blades of Kratos from the God of War video games, complete with chains and gauntlets. It didn't take much to convince me to do it, all he had to do say was "Kratos sword things" and here i am! I will be posting my templates for the blades so anyone that wants to can make them. I am using posterboard for the blades, clay for the skull hilt and pomel and covering it with smooth cast 320 for strength.

Thanks, after the sketch i eyed the dimensions for the pieces and drew them out, then scanned the template.

Question: How do you go from the "sketch" to the template? Always been my challenge.

Well the template is just a scanned image of the first piece i made using the sketch, how to go from sketch to the first piece is a mystery even to me.

Update number two!

Using my second template i have made the pommel and hilt for both blades as well as the grip. The grip was made using two differently sized cardboard tubes, not the fanciest of techniques but one that will still yield good results. Next step is to cover and mold the hilt and pommel with clay.

The clay sculpting is coming along nicely (though a bit messy) I chose to use air dry clay because the idea of putting a paper sword into an oven seemed wrong somehow. Anyway i might be done sculpting in a week so watch for another update soon.
