Kolser revolver troubles

Recently I purchased a Kolser Single Action Army, part of my 'Tombstone' craze :lol I believe it to be a Denix clone of sorts, in an attempt to remove the grips (gotta love those 'screws') I disassembeld the frame, and trigger, now I for the life of me I can't work out how to reassemble the thing with functionality, I was wondering if any of the members would be kind enough to put up a tutorial of sorts as to how to do this.

Not the same model, but maybe this will help.
Also, pardon the dark picture.
Anyway, it is necessary to build a little fixture to support the internal mechanism
until you get the cover on to hold everything in place.

I have the thing put away now so I'm not sure of the sizes,
but the "pins" in the fixture are number drills and the holes in the fixture are only a .001" bigger or so.

This way, you can assemble the action around the pins, put the cover on,
and then push the pins out with the original screws.

Thanks, it's helped me reassemble most of it, but theres still a spring I can't work out were it goes, its almost exactly like the one seated in the trigger in your picture, but slightly longer.

apologies for the double post, so far i've got the hammer working, and the ratchet that engages the cylinder works, but I still can't get the trigger to engage with the mechanism, so it doesn't work properly.

I just bought a Kolser Colt 45 and opened it to see how the shaft was mounted. Reassembly took severel hours, because I had the same troubles as you. I don't have a picture, but if I use pennausamikes photo you can see how the spring should be located.

Don't know if you managed to reassembly in the meantime, but here is how I did:
The short arm (1) stays under the trigger. The long arm (2) should be placed under the blank latch behind the dotted line. Problem is to keep all pieces in place when mounting the cover. Finally I had to modify the tap (3) so the latch wouldn't fall of, but still moves freely.
By the way, I used two of the screws mounted from the backside, as fixture for the parts.

good luck!

Hey! I'm looking for exactly this gun (Single Action Colt Army .45), do you know where I can buy one?

I wish to change the wooden grips on the Kolser Colt 45 without completely destroying the wood. how on earth do you get it off? The "screws" are obviously some sort of pin and socket system.I notice from Mike's photo that it'spossible to take them off- but how? were they destroyed?

You can't go by my picture because I modified the original "screws" which are actually pins press fit together.
To get mine out, (and I've done a couple of these now), I put one screwdriver in a bench vise with the blade pointing up.
Set the grip "screw" on the blade and use a screwdriver on the other side on top as if you were unscrewing it.
You're not, really, but you are loosening the press fit.
Be careful to keep pressure on the screwdriver blades in the slots because if you don't,
you'll strip out the pot metal slots very easily.
After a few turns the press fit will start to loosen, and hopefully you can slide a 1" putty knife in under the wood grip.
From there, it is just a question of working the grip panel up, turning the swaged "screw" a little more,
pry the grip a little more, etc, until the press fit "screw"/pins seperate.
I use a putty knife and not a screwdriver to spread the prying forces over a larger area.

You can't go by my photos, because after I get the dummy screws apart,
I drill and tap them for a threaded stud so they can actually be (what a concept!) SCREWED TOGETHER!

Hopefully that helps,
Mike
