Hey all,

KITT has been pretty much done and thought I would updsate with some pictures and a quick video I put together this evening. It is an accurate representation of the first season version of KITT. I have owned this car for 13 years now too.

Accurate 2 TV dash, dual DVD players, KITTs voice is on it's own sound system with it's own under dash speakers. All correct LEDs and buttons as used in the show. Scanner has full sound effect and various scan options. He even has the tow bar under the nose as seen in the series. (see video).

Car is an all original 1982 Trans Am. 30600 original miles on the body. Rebuilt Tranny and new engine with less than 1000 miles on it. Car has a rebuilt suspension, Rims have been restored to better than original condition. (CNC'd, bead blasted, fins polished and everything powder coated in clear. (They always stay clean).

All the parts were made from the top vendor in the hobby too.

Enjoy the pic's and the video. (Excuse the shaky cam too). It's brand new and I am not sure how to use the anti shake feature yet. Editing program is only an hour old too so I am just getting use to things. Video was a test and for fun.

Sadly, due to serious money issues, Keep a look for KITT in the junkyard section sometime this weekeend. With my cut hours at work and the ever piling credit/medical bills, he has to go. :cry

Cool. Looks like a lot of fun.
I can't believe that the whole dash is so functional.
Well done mate.

Re: Knight Rider's KITT - My finsihed replica!

Well done! That interior is flat out amazing.

Very well done! Sorry to hear you have to part ways... :(

Awesome. I had a toy one in the 80's but this is so much better. Kudos to you.

Just out of interest, how hard is it to drive with that steering wheel (I've always wondered this)? If you have to turn tight on full circle where you'd normally do a few full turns of the wheel is this hard with that gullwing steering wheel or has the ratio been modified for less wheel movement?

Re: Knight Rider's KITT - My finsihed replica!

Man I loved that show. I have a friend who has a habit of buying things like this. I'll keep a lookout for it....

Re: Knight Rider's KITT - My finsihed replica!

Always thought that the car was way, WAY too cool for that show. And your replica is the perfect way to illustrate this. Kudos, man. He's perfect. :D

Re: Knight Rider's KITT - My finsihed replica!

REALLY nice. The interior looks great!

Again - REALLY nicely executed!!!

So sorry that you have to sell. You must be crushed.

Re: Knight Rider's KITT - My finsihed replica!

Hopefully you get more hours & you don't have to sell it.

It looks like it rolled right out of the tv show & you should keep it & sell something else.

Re: Knight Rider's KITT - My finsihed replica!

Thanks guys.

Steering with the wheel is actually quite easy. I like it better than the round wheel myself.
Turning is the same ratio as the stock wheel. Nothing has changed there. I just keep the bottom
corner of one of the grips in the ball of my palm and just spin it to turn. I barely hold the grips at all.
The only thing to get used to is that the wheel sits lower (colum tilts almost all the way down
and the wheel is about 6 inches or so closer to you than the stock wheel. The hub on the wheel is
extended so you can fit the swicth pod between that wheel and the dash. The pod in my car is bonded
to the dash itself so there are no seams. I tried to go for the screwless look as much as I could.
Makes it look much cleaner installed.

As much as I have enjoyed this car, I haven't had much time to use it at all. He has only been out a
couple of times in the past two years. It's a shame to see it just sit in the garage all the time too.
So I figured it is time for someone else to live the lone cruidaders dreeam and make a difference.
I have won many awards with KITT which sit proudly on a display shelf and will be a reminder of
one of my best prop builds to come. That and I am out of anything else I can sell. My entire prop
collection is gone now. Most of which I miss but times are tough and the sacrifice needed to be made.

I am listing him for sale here first because there are so many talented members here that would love,
enjoy and take care of this car! It is very low mileage for a 30 year old car and I have taken the best
of care of it during it's stay here. Has never seen snow or rain at all. Only the occasional light washing.

Again, thanks for the comments. I'll get some better videos posted very soon. Still learning the
euipment on that stuff. LOL

That is just beautiful. Too bad you have to sell it though. I'm in Ct and would have loved to see it. I wish I could afford it. Good luck with the sale.

Re: Knight Rider's KITT - My finsihed replica!

Amazing job!!! This is truly my dream car and I hope I can obtain one someday in the future. I have seen several season 1/2 KITTs and this one looks to be very well done! I am so sorry that you have to sell this car though.

Re: Knight Rider's KITT - My finsihed replica!

Absolutely stunning.

Its a pity you have to let it go.
