Kmikzeken's Wip (Pic Heavy)

Greetings!  With my 2012 Dredd costume just about wrapped up and the spring weather fast approaching, it's time to focus on the next build.  Over the past few months I've slowly been researching and acquiring material to set out on getting myself suited up as a true hunter.  My materials/pieces so far:

Monsterroom Neck Ring/Hands

Dreadman Dreads
Clay sculpted and resin cast my own dread beads (bummed about how blurry the first pic came out...)

Termokk 3.0 Mask- I could not be more happy with this transaction.  Purchased from ebay, the best communication I've ever had with any seller.  Turn around time was quick and I'm really digging the quality of the mask.  Cheers Termokk!

P1 King Jamie bio from member Pdisc (in transit)

Hopefully over the next few weeks I'll be able to get the Mr. I suit underway.  I'm currently recovering from elbow surgery so I can't jump into this build with as much enthusiasm as I'd like to right now, but at least things have been set in motion.  I've never worked with latex on such a grand scale before, nor have I used an airbrush, so I'm looking forward to getting to experiment and hopefully pick up some new costuming skills along the way.  Thanks for looking!

Was finally able to get a bit of work done today before the rain came.  I'm still mostly in the material collecting stage, but hopefully this build will be in full swing in a month or so.  While I'm going P1 with the mask and bio, I wanted to keep the build fairly custom and not tied down to a specific film.  I want as much height as I can get so I went with Ruffkintoy's feet and am taking a page from Mr. Fett's feet platforming tutorial by finding some cheap elevator boots.  I also went with Ruffkintoy's AvP gauntlets and will be trying to add some proper lighting and sound effects to it.

Following MasterAnubis's huntorial on trimming latex seams, I knocked back the seam line on my mask today.  I got as close as I could to flush, however some areas opened up air pockets and left holes all the way through the mask.  A bit of latex super glued behind the holes fixed it for now, I'll have to do some more repair later.

As I have some experience with weapon mock ups from airsoft/nerf guns, I hit my favorite auction site and found this nice gem for cheap.  Knocked off some of the pieces and I think I have a great base for a custom plasma caster.

That's all for now, thanks for looking!

Thanks guys!  As for the skin pattern, I can't help but love the spotting and overall designs of the P1.  Aaaand I also like the Snake Predator pattern so I'm still undecided.  I would like to incorporate some red and/or lighter green coloring into the overall paint scheme.  Most of my projects tend to change rapidly mid-build so what I envision now could be nowhere near the final product, lol.

Ok so I finally worked up the courage to take the mask and start the painting process.  Pros-Aide was fairly painless, I just used a combo of foam brushes/chip brushes and that worked nicely in allowing full coverage yet also eliminating excessive build up in low spots.

Now I didn't take any actual work in progress shots as this was my first time airbrushing (not including the 10 minutes I spent mucking about with some practice).   I spent 7 hours painting and most of it was spent in Oh-Shi* mode trying to fix stupid mistakes.  Lessons learned.  After all was said and done, I ended up wildly far from my original design idea, but I'm not toooo disappointed with the outcome so far.  I'm happy with the blending in the jowls, but still not too thrilled with the overall brow area.  At least I can have a Bio to hide behind

Anyway, here are some shots of where I'm at right now.  Still need to do the mouth/mandibles (obviously).   Some repeat pictures are just shot with different lighting.  I took the piece outside to see how it would look and I put it next to the tree and I'm thinking about trying to incorporate some of those mold-yellow colors into my darker areas around the crown of the head.  And add more spots.  Feedback/criticism/help welcomed and appreciated.  Thanks for looking!

Hell yeah bro! The paint job came out sick! Really good for your first time!! Can't wait to see it finished with the teeth and dreads!

Thanks for sharing, I just messed up my body duct tape mold and ended up peeling latex from my hands.... I have no hair on my finger now  :( Anyway the Mr. Incredible suit is a great idea.  The muscle form looks identical I think I'll buy one and latex that. Ty!!!!

Thanks for all the positive comments!  Last weekend was C2E2 here in Chicago and I was fortunate enough to meet and chat with member Canalien and she gave me some fantastic painting tips to help me get the look I would like out of my Pred.  So I spent a few hours tonight getting the mouth and mandibles situated and completely reworked the crown/brow area to better achieve the look I'm going for.  And in the end, I still need more spots.  Thanks for looking!
