King Kong float

This is my take on King Kong and was specifically made for our local village Gala Day. Annbank in Ayrshire, Scotland is an ex-mining village, has only a population of around 1000 but it carries on the long tradition of annual Gala Days. However unlike many other local gala days it tries to put on a show with a selection of floats. This is very low budget but it's amazing what our residents come up with. If anyone is intersted I can show some more.

Kong was built primarily using polystyrene foam boards and Sculptamold and painted with latex and acrylic paint. His hair was sheeps wool insulating that I grabbed from my loft and stained with dye. The wall measures 7ft x 2ft x 5ft (lbh), while Kong is around 7ft x 2ft x 5ft (lbh).
It went down a storm in the village and I thought members on RPF might be interested in my creation.

Wow, that is an excellent float! Thanks for posting. Love the weathering on the wall, and the way you've incorporated the camera into the scene.

Many thanks. The wall funnily enough was the part I liked doing the most and I had to keep tearing myself away from it to finish Kong. The camera was a last minute finishing touch that I thought sold the whole float and it's as rough as a badgers backside closeup, but passes muster from a distance. Loosely modelled on the 1933 camera used for filming the original and Jackson's 2005 remake.
