Does anyone have any good pictures of the blanket that Kal-El was wrapped in while being held by Lara just before being put in his crystal ship?

Has anyone made this before? If not me and my wife are working on it right now and wondered if anyone was interested.

I would be interested. It appeared to be a multi colored super shiney material in the movie scenes on Krypton, but in Smallville baby Kal was wrapped up in a solid red blanket.

Yea it is odd, cause in Superman The Movie it is the shiney material red yellow blue and white, but once he crashlands on earth it is just red, you can see it in his ship behind him. Well in any case. I will be making it in satins. If you look close it looks more like a bag than a blanket, almost sleeping bag like, so that is what we will be doing. We will also be doing a regular blanket version of it.

I always assumed that it was the fabric he made his costume from... so, shouldn't the fabric be identical to that?

We want it to be screen accurate to the blanket Lara held him in. It was shiny and reflective like their suits. So the only we can figure to accomplish this is to make it out of satins with cotton lining. This will give the screen used prop while still allowing it to be a practical baby blanket. In the Donner film it was never said nor was it suggested that his suit was made from the blanket like in other versions of his orgin. If there are people that are interested in non satin materials we can do that aswell however it wont be screen accurate.

My wife will be working on the blanket version and pictures will be posted tonight. If those go over well then we'll work on the bag.

I always assumed the suits were made of Scotchbrite material to reflect the light light that. Might that be a starting point for the blanket?

well, we want to keep the blanket looking accurate to the movie, while still being usable as an actual baby's blanket, so we figured either satin or cruched silk would be the way to go. We will have pics of the prototype up tonight.

Hey another update. We have finalized the design after repetedly watching the scenes, we have also come to the conclusion that they most likley used a PVC type material for the baby blanket as it is not the same as Jor-El and Lara's suits. We will try to have pics of a proto up tonight.

ok guys, sorry for the long delay, we have been working as heroes at the CA State Fair. I have a picture update for everyone. We have a finished proto type. It's dimensions are 44" x 48" the blankets have a white lining. I dont have any baby's to hold in it, so I used a cat lol. We went with the faux crushed silk fabric for the prototype, but we can use anything you like. Let me know what you think. I will post an interest thread in the Junkyard a bit later.
