Just picked up a 1:1 Pesi Maul, Upgrade options?

A good year of searching finally paid off. Found a local 1:1 Pespi Maul statue for a pretty good price that was in good condition. The guy had it in his garage in storage so its been relatively clean and the red beam portions of the lightsabers had never even been snapped in. The bottom of the base is a bit rusted though but all in all, a good purchase.

It does seem a bit lacking though, comes off as almost a posterish look with the painted head. For those of you out there who have it, does the head simply pop/unscrew off, or is it literally a hack job to get it off? I am thinking of removing the styrafoam in the bottom base and filling it with filler foam or some other material so the base isn't so wobbly, but any tips to do that would be great as I'm not sure if that is the best option. I also have a FX Full Maul saber set to replace the regular plastic saber as I've seen such great display of it lit.

Are there very many options out there of head replacements? Will probably go with it without a robe as I just preferred the look of it robeless. I'm aware of cyberman's sculpt but are there any others out there?

Just grab the head firmly and twist and pull. It will come off easily. If you don't want to go down the cyberman route for the head the sideshow1:1 is also quite nice. Just be aware the mr saber is very long compared to the original so if you reposition the arm allow for that.

Yup that exact post set my spirit afire with wanting to get my maul and then the very next day, a post for one local came up almost as if it was my destiny:lol. Thanks for the tip Jedimaster, I have yet compared the two together so was not sure how long it would be. I am debating right now to reposition the arm or not, I kind of like it where it is, but really have to switch out the head.

Simon's work on that conversion is outstanding. By Simon adding Phil's sculpt and the best outer robe I've seen on a Maul display, I'd put it up there with one of the best I've seen. :thumbsup

Hi Simon,

Amazing work on the Maul conversion-just got a quick question though.You mentioned that Mauls head just twists off which is good:lolbut is Cybermans great bust an easy replacement? Ive never seen one of Phils busts in person,but is it just the head section,and you therefore just take off the pepsi head a fix this one in its place?

Because phils is a bust it has the neck and part shoulders. I had to remove a little of the styrene from the pepsi statue but not much. It took around ten minutes. Also the pepsi statue's head leans forwards which gave it the hunchback appearance. Just take a little styrene out from there too as the cybermans sculpt will sit in the correct position.
