I recently managed to get myself a 3 cell graflex for a reasonable sum (Significantly under £100)....I just wanted to check with you guys if I'm just being wierd, because this was such a Holy Grail for me....

I really dont want to cover 'Graflex' on the Clamp with Aluminium tape....

and..

I'm not sure I can bring myself to drill into the Base to attach the D ring.....(It would destroy that lovely 'Folmer Graflex' wording and the serial number...

Am I just being a wuss?

Yeah, pretty much......

.......:lol I'm joking of course, if you are too "scared" to drill into it have someone else do it for you.

You just need to get over that, "...but tis is my holy grail of props...." fear and convert the darn thing!!!! It's just an old flashgun that you can turn into a really nice saber!

Congratulations!!

It's always a thrill when you come across a piece that is the "Real Deal" .

Enjoy!!!
Chuck...

It´s never "Lukes Saber", never "the real deal".

It´s not the original thing from the movie - it´s always only one of the many copies - no matter if original or copied parts are used.

Seriously! This is a replica props website, not a conserve old camera parts website. It's a camera part that used to be thrown away with the trash by the handful until people realized that Star Wars fans were buying them.

Do what you want with it! I personally don't like the tape look on the clamp. I even used a strong double sided tape to hold the d-ring to the bottom so that I didn't have to drill a hole in mine.

I agree. When I first started looking for these in the90s I heard a ton of camera guys go" I threw all mine away" or why would you want those?" They didn't wnat them until they found out we did and also...converting the flash doesn't make it stop being a functional flash and the only real thing that is not reversible is drilling the holes.

If what made you want one was watching an old movie with a bunch of paparazzi photos then don't convert it,but if you were captivated and amazed by what you saw when Luke ignited his saber in Obi Wan's hut, then you know what you need to do. :lol

That wasn't even a Graflex, but yes, you must convert the damned thing.
Ask yourself why you bought it, then you will convert it.
