It isn't often in the hobby we get a replica prop maker that is licensed and worth half a damn. Granted, MR had it's ups and downs, but it still made some cool stuff. Noble, well, at least their intentions were...
Rob makes awesome stuff, is licensed, and this is the part that just baffles me, HE DOES IT ALONE. The whole shebang. Raya crystal? Made on the cnc. Lana necklace? Guess who pours the resin and glues the chains? Kara bracelet? Back to the CNC again!
The guy has a huge catalog of Smallville stuff, has things that are molded and cast from the screen used pieces, and basically makes everything completely by himself.
Noble has factories to make stuff, and a giant support staff and catalogs and entire departments committed to completely screwing up the details of the prop itself, and then emailing the customer the wrong info. MR has factories that paint and assemble and package and mail all their stuff out. Rob has a garage, and his tools.
For an amateur propmaker/replicator like myself, it's easy to say "Hey, I made that" and "I made this" or "2 years ago I totally did this", but this guy literally makes his entire catalog on a weekly basis. To me, that is just amazing.
It just hit me this morning that I am damned lucky to have a company (and a friend) who specializes in making stuff from a show that I love, and makes sure that it is made well. You rock dude. You have standards, and you stick to em, and you make sure you don't get something out the door until that sucker is 100% perfect.
Ya gotta respect a guy like that. Especially one that started out as a regular guy like the rest of us, and got the official "OK" to make this stuff for the highest rated CW show.
You rock dude. Keep up the good work.
Chris
