I am starting my first RPF project, Chris Pratt's character in Jurassic World, Owen Grady.

I currently am 14 and look more like THIS Chris Pratt, than the 2015 Chris(To simplify, Chris Fat, I'm fat, hahaha, bad puns)

The Jurassic Park series to me is what Star Wars is to Sci-Fi fans.

Hoping to grow the Chris Pratt facial hair as I grow older.

If anyone has any tips please comment!

I will be posting pictures each time I update the costume.

Happy RPF'ing! :)

lots of great info for exact screen used pieces can be found here: http://www.therpf.com/showthread.php?t=237900

My biggest tip is play smart! Money disappears fast in this hobby... Budget, and keep a simple spreadsheet (something like a balance sheet) to keep track of how much your spending. (If your parents are like most parents out there, they'll be more likely to support your outgoing expenses if you show financial responsibility)

Also HAVE FUN!!!

Now onto the costume:
If you're into screen accuracy, then this costume will cost you more than you'd think.

As you're 14, i'd recommend going a little less screen accurate as you'll most likely change sizes over the years.

The pants are easy, a quick search of amazon will find you similar pants in the $30-$50 range
The Orivs shirt is $59 if you call up Orivs and say you missed the sale and wanted to see if they'd honor the sale price
the watch you can get a $10 knock off thats fairly similar on amazon
vest: pleather one is $89 on evilBay
You can also find $30 side draw leather holsters on evilbay (makes sense to just buy holster if you're cosplaying, just make the knife yourself so you can take it to cons)
Discount shoe stores are your friend for lookalike boots
Airsofts painted make a decent replacement for rifle.

Wow thanks, as for the budget I tried to recycle as much as possible, shirt and holster is handed down from my dad and I ordered a cosplay vest[80 bucks], it's on it's way, I own a pair of good boots and already had the same watch. I will look into the airsoft idea, thanks for the feedback.

Just got my Owen Grady vest and this is what it looks like with the blue shirt.

Very happy with the look, color varies by lighting(sunlight, lamps).

Next to get the pants and the knife holster(I'll probably make a cardboard hero knife for cosplay) and then try and get an airsoft rifle that ships to AU.

Ordered my multi tool and leather pouch[see below] as well as some grey/brown cargo pants[pictures to come] all together for a total of $160.

I've been looking at replica Winchester rifles(as they are the closest model to the Marlin used in the movie that's available) with a scope and sling, however none of the products I've found ship to Australia so if anyone can help with that, it would be greatly appreciated.

I also got my hands on a WWII clicker identical to the one Owen uses to train the velociraptors in his introduction to the movie for only $11.

Here is the links to the products I ordered and/or have so far, click on the names to go to the link.

Mostly everything you have there are great lookalikes, but I would pass on those pants if I were you. They will end up being way too baggy and just not looking right at all. Check out some local clothing stores for some fitted grey jeans. They don't have to be J Brands, but I promise they'll look much better than those you have pictured.
Good luck with the costume and have fun! :)

Pants are purchased and look fine, they were not baggy as we went A. a size down and B. it was not on a mannequin.

Sorry for the long period of time with no update everyone, I wanted to wait to get all the accessories for this post.

I have finally received everything I need to be Owen Grady that isn't clothing.

Below I have attached some photos of everything.

Unfortunately, I can't link anything as it was either an Amazon or eBay product that is either only shipping to Australia or is no longer available.

Everything is fantastic quality and perfectly functional. This project is turning out to be one of the most successful costumes I've put together.

I am now just waiting on the pants and boots.

Here are the photos with their titles.

Nice scores man!! Would you mind taking a shot of the back of your vest? I'd appreciate it!

Hey, sorry it took so long, I had the vest in a safe place and stored in a bag to make sure it didn't get scratched.

The lighting in my room effects the color of the vest, when outdoors it's screen accurate(I'll try to get some outdoor shots).

Here are some photos from the front and back of the vest without me wearing it.

My Owen Grady costume is now 100% complete and I couldn't be happier!

Thanks to everyone who watched me create this project.

Below are just some misc. photos that include the pants and boots I got, not 100% accurate but being only 14 with my budget blown, they were the smartest choice.

I'll probably bust this bad boy out for Halloween, maybe get someone to go as a dinosaur or Barry(the african american side kick in Jurassic World)

Here are the final photos of the costume and then when Halloween comes round I can take some full body shots, hopefully I would have lost weight by then.
