Judge Dredd - Interest

Would any members be interested in Judge Dredd costume parts

I have a costume/prop maker here in the UK that is making my Dredd costume

so far i have details on a Cadet Jacket with the correct Clasps, Gloves.

I have been informed that they will be able to make Eagle and Street Judge Shoulder Pads and Helmets too, im Holding off on the helmet at the moment as someone in the Junkyard has put up an interest thread.

ive been quoted a price on the Rubber belt with all details and mini pouches, the price was quite high due to the fact the maker of this would have to fashion a scratch built rubber mold to make the belt from.

as soon as i get further details i will post up just wanted to gauge some interest.

oh and this will be a very limited offer too, the major concern and problem i have will be hosting pictures of said items the reason for this is they will be made to order, so i dont quite know what to say or do regarding that.

As i said i cant offer pictures etc etc these people only make items to order, and to ask them to make a complete set purely for a show off thread is probably a no go, im going on their reputation and trust but like you say ive wanted one of these for sooooooooo long.

ill let everyone know the outcome and progress but as i said i dont know what else to do

is it possible you could post some hi res pictures especially of the clasping/connection system,

is yours screen used or scratch built

Actually thinking about it any hi res screen shots of armour parts would be very very useful, Boot shins, Glove armour, Cod piece in particular would be great

Right im on a mission to see this through guys.

Firstly i have never taken on a project as big as this before so i please ask for your Understanding and Patience, maybe a bit of casual advice on the do's and donts wouldnt go a miss either please :confused

Right i have asked that the Cadet/Judge Jacket have the Gold/Yellow Collar lining however the Collar pips will not be included but will include the correct type claps. They will be made Available in Small, Medium and large proper sizes to follow.
To offer individual sizing would be a nightmare so generic sizeing will be used.

Eagle Shoulders for sure.......again as the Info comes in on how these will be made, materials used etc i will pass on

Street Judge Shoulders - im not sure there will be much call for these but i have requested a price just in case.

Helmet - im waiting on the outcome of other members here as i do not want to tread on anyones toes but should they fall short there is a possibility of these being made too, as a finished product.

Cod Piece
Gloves

The belt will be made of Rubber with pouches and will include Holster and buckle in a hard, metal effect finish im not certain if that means Vac Metalising i will confirm. (these will not be cheap)

At this time i do not have any other information but as i mentioned im prepared to take this on.

Ive been fore warned that completion time on these products will not be until January 2009 due to Molds having to be made etc.

I am closing this list at 12 before it spirals out of my control as mentioned this is a big project that i am taking on and do not want to get inundated.
there is a place for one more and then the interest list closes, IF all goes well i may consider another run but i very much doubt that will happen. As the stress of this run will probably render me insane

For those interested in the Judge Dredd Project i have recieved this e-mail today and would like your thoughts and feed back, i dont want to go into something as big as this to fall at the first hurdle so please have a read and tell me your thoughts.

My initial Problem from the outset is having something to show you for your Money and on the flip side, the makers of the costume want definate orders before they begin to make Moulds (from scratch) for the costume pieces.

Regarding the 'chicken and egg' situation you are in with the orders, what I'd be willing to do is
this-
I will initially except an order for 2 or 3 pieces of everything- in the same size (ie your size).
We can take photos during the making process.
Most pieces- belt, shoulders etc will be adjustable, anyway.

At the moment, I have two concerns-
1. I cannot do/show/begin anything on this project till the new year, as our order book is choc a bloc til then.

2.And this is a more serious concern- the cost versus the quality.

If an organization asked me to make one pair of the Judge Shoulders for a photo session, I would make it in non- durable materials like plastazote and metallic cardboard and charge a minimum of 900 pounds.

If they wanted it to be durable and stand up to a theatre tour I would charge at least 2-4 times that.

(Film has bigger budgets, so I'd charge lots more, but that is a different story)

Now a good deal of that cost is mould making costs, and general thinking time, but still...

I don't want to make something that isn't good. But I doubt anyone would pay around 600 pounds for the shoulders? Because I couldn't do them properly for less than that. It is several days work, and expensive materials.

And then there are the shipping costs- those shoulders are BIG!

So, to sum up; We are quite capable of making these things, I'd like to do it, and I'm prepared to put in the time and do the research- (in the New Year.)

BUT -Will people be prepared to pay these prices?
