I was commissioned me to fling some paint at this monster a while back. Painting has been done for a while now, but the client decided to go w/ getting the logo made for this piece. He's a full 2ft long!!
It was a lot of work, but I'm pretty pleased w/ the way it came out.
Soooo w/out further ado...

THAT is stunning! I'd be interested in your techniques if you're willing to share. Especially with the teeth...

Thanx guys! It's a great piece for sure.

PH - The majority of the work on the skin is airbrushed, punctuated by glazing to get the lightness in the cracks of the skin. The teeth were done w/a basecoat of Games Workshop Bleached Bone and then given a wash of VanDyke Brown and Burnt Sienna watercolors. Move the color around until you're happy w/ the look. Even when they are dry you can reactivate them w/a damp brush. Final step for the teeth was a light airbrush misting of Golden Trans. Raw Umber Hue at the base of each tooth.

Hope that makes sense!

Rick

Howard!! - Heheheheh....drop me a line and we'll talk...:cool

Hey Rick,

Just curious, what made you go with these colors instead of the standard light brown and yellow eyes from the movie?

Is this what the client wanted?

Again, just wondering.

Gruson - I received some really nice pics of the Winston maquette under glass at ILM Presidio. This is the color scheme the pics showed, so after confering w/ the client I went w/ it.
