We have some great threads going for the shirt - I would like to see some more work being done on the pants. For whatever reason, this part of the costume is even harder to come by than the shirt.I have tried doing searches online for pinstripe fabric and always come up empty handed. If anyone can contribute to this, let it be heard.

I must confess to having seen the movie only once, as I'm waiting for IMAX to come to my State. Does the Joker actually wear a matching suit jacket, or just the striped trousers and the purple overcoat? The trousers seem cut somewhat tight, which is in fitting with the demented clown look.

The suit jacket does not match the trousers - the jacket is a sort of steel gray/blue, and the trousers are the only part that's got the purple/blue pinstriped fabric.

No back pockets, at least for sure on the left side. No waistband.

No waistband needed, he has those awesome suspenders:

I'm pretty sure the pants are a more blue purple:

It looks to me that the pinstripes are not black at all, but rather white stitching, then the pants were died.I agree that the color is not a true purple.I may just go to a local tailor and show them these pics then see where to go from there.

The pinstripes are (or should be) white
And If you search for pinstripe fabric on the net you'll find a lot of close fabrics, one of the colors that resemble more what you see in the pics it's the blue (or navy blue as some sites calls it) with white pinstripes...
And most likely it's wool:)

To make it more purple-ish, it could be dyed slightly with a red or something...

Ramiel,Did you get that pinstripe swatch picture from a seller online? If so, it looks to be accurate enough to be re-dyed.I don't know a whole lot about dying fabrics, but if you use a 'color remover', it could take out most of that blue then re-dye the fabric purple. The threads that make up the pinstripe will take the dye differently than the fabric so there sould be some contrast between the stripes and the fabric. If anyone has links to fabric suppliers who offer suitable material, please post them here.

Yes, online, and you don't need to remove the previous color, if you use a blue fabric with white pinstripes, you just need a "diluited" red dye, and VOILA' A purple-ish pinstripe fabric!:D
But I'm quite sure it could be found, usually is a wool fabric called also suiting fabric (used, of course, for making suits:p)
