Joker Glock discussion

It's got to be the mechanism that makes the gun fire full auto. My guess is that it's just a peice of metal that sticks into the back and hits the proper parts, allowing the gun to keep firing until you let go of the trigger. It would be full auto only, so there wouldn't be any large switch assembly for changing between the two.

Here's my take as I pretty much quashed this whole Glock 17 Vs. Clock 18c debate on the other TDK Joker Thread.

The Pin on the back(Notch) is the retainer for the fire selector switch on the G18c. My guess is that they used the slide/upper's internals from a G18c and put them into a Slide of a Glock 17. my reason for this is that I doubt Stainless slides are produced for the G18c. It would have taken some gunsmithing to the swap the internal components but i bet it wasn't too difficult. The Wire or whatever we are calling the doohickey sticking out the back of the gun is probably a new custom or aftermarket selector.

...Or maybe there is some new version or custom smithed variant of the G18c out there that has the selector on the back. Hollywood does have the best armory and they get to see new **** before us Civies do.

Thought I'd copy my post from the merged Joker props thread. I realize the "doohickey" full auto converter and/or selector has been spotted, but no one else has mentioned that it appears there were two separate prop guns.

Hey guys, just thought I'd post some more info on the gun.

I was watching the Hi-Def opening, and paused in certain areas to get a better look at the Glock.

It's definitely a 17, and it's possible there were multiple filming models. In some shots I see rails on the frame, and in some I don't.

I also think I see a small apparatus at the back of the slide that likely converted the gun to full auto.

Looks to me like there was a different gun in the car scene, with no accessory rails. Then in the bank, the firing model has the rails. Also note the little doo hickey at the back of the slide in the last pic. Possibly a custom job done by the prop gun wrangler?

So it really looks like an older model Glock lower frame in the car scene, and a newer model w/the contoured grips and rails in the bank scenes.

if you want a cheap airsoft gun that will do full auto without gass. Get a CYMA cm. 30 its an Amazing clone AEP modled after the marui glock 18 aep. The slide comes off and you can paint it. there only 50 bucks all you need is BBs if you want it to shoot.

Too true, if you don't mind a lack of trademarks and a fixed slide, the Cyma would be an excellent "trooping" and display replica. I don't know if the Marui AEP accessories are compatible, Vengecore may know (though I don't think AA carries the Cyma Glock) so you may be out of luck if you want a mock silencer.

Excellent suggestion Bowelrock!

Its 100% compatable with the Marui. With some modding you could fit a suppressor. You can get the CYMA on ebay for arround $60 shipped

they break, we used to carry them. but they will do the job for a replica or cheap AEP. the Chargers have a tendency to cath fire too.

These are a G19 (I'm looking at mine right now). I can't tell if the rails are there or not--the resolution has to be higher to confirm that. The other guns you posted had lots of upgrades done (rounding the slide edges/corners, removing paint, etc.) that people do to make it lighter. But those look like a G19 also.

I froze it so I could see the number on the slide in the bank scenes. It's a 17.

Also, I'm pretty sure in the car it's a 17 as well. Definitely looks like a full frame.

Definitely no rails here. You can tell by the contour, the way it tapers up. Newer models with rails don't taper like this.

Here's the 17 markings. (Hard to see I know, but I really don't think that can be a 9 next to the 1)

I'm not sure what you mean about the rounding of the corners and edges, it looks like an untouched (aside from the full auto conversion) standard late model stainless Glock 17 slide to me.

Isn't the 17 much longer than a 19? I have a 19 and it has the same proportions. Or is the difference between the two just caliber?

The 19 is a compact model. The grip is shorter as well as the barrel. Smaller frame altogether. The caliber is the same. Both are 9mm.

Here's a 17 minus the rails and grip contours (an older model, Gen 2)

I agree with you Dann:
The older model 17 is used in the car, with no rails and also you can clearly see it has no "metal loop" modification.
The one with the modification to fire auto has the rails (newer model) and is used inside the bank.

Looks decent. The mag is inaccurate, but other than that, it looks nice! :)

Damn. I was hoping I was wrong about that because that's the kind of detail that'll drive me crazy.

Yeah, that's the correct mag.

Paul, you could just get the KSC mag and mod it to fit your gun.

I wouldn't have a clue how to do that. I wrote the guy I bought it from and asked him about it though.

I think the mag I got was also thinner than that one.
