Joker costume

Hey everybody, I figured that I would show off my joker costume that I did for halloween. I have a deep respect for all incarnations of the joker, especially Heath ledger. But I was getting tired of seeing only ledger jokers on Halloween, so I decided to go the classic way. The biggest problem was finding a purple tails coat, after spending days looking for a purple tails coat, I finally gave up my search. I decided that I would find and old tuxedo and dye my own.

I found a used grey tails tuxedo made of 100% wool and used purple rit dye and dyed it in a plastic bin.

I was very happy with the color but was a little sad that the satin didn't dye, so I took some purple fabric and put it over it with double sided carpet tape. And then I got glued some purple ribbon around the ends to give it that classy tuxedo shine.

I then simply got a green shirt from express and an orange vest that I found off of eBay and I was good!

I used a fake devil nose and chin set for that really classic joker face!

I also put orange ribbon down the pant leg of the tux pants.

Nice Job! I had a question about dyeing the tux. Most tuxes are "dry clean only", did you have any problems with the stitching, shoulder pads, lining, etc after dunking it in water?

I've got a charcoal grey morning coat that I wanted to dye black, but I've been hesitant to do it myself for that reason.

I had no problem, just let it dry outside do not use the washer or dryer.

I used the purple powder dye you mix with water to dye my pants on my costume. Just let em soak up for a while, and dry the **** out of them before putting in the washer/ dryer. My coat is a replicated TDK coat stiched by Tripp, the company who supplies Hot Topic. I got my vest on amazon along with the gloves.

Nice classic outfit! I recently played The Joker at The Carl Casper's Custom and Louisville new car Show on Feb.23 to 25th. I chose to wear white . Well I had no purple.

I went as Mr. J in 2008 and reused the tails that my mother made for me in 1989 from an Uncle Sam costume pattern. Not as fancy as yours.



I really wish I could find a nice "Bang!" prop that looks like a pistol. The available ones are soooo cheesy.

Thanks dude! I have thought about making a bang gun. But then I would just have to leave the bang sign hanging out.

Nice I like the cartoon joker but the dark leadger joker is my fav beside the new comic with the ripped off face THAT IS EPIC NEW LOOK FOR JOKER ... anyway you did great job here is a pic of me ( a black guy by the way as joker)

Very nice. It reminds me of the artist Marshall Rogers' Joker version.

Classic! Marshall Rogers was one of the best Batman/joker artist of all time.
