While I've got a number of various SW builds going, I just couldn't help starting with a Gonk! I set the project aside for about half a year to enjoy the nice weather of summer, but winter in VT is an ideal time to get back to crafting. So I went from this:
to this in about a month, thanks in part to an excessive collection of greebles:
He's a working motion-sensing nightlight (ideal, as we're also renovating the nearest bathroom and it's a dodgy walk to the other one in the dark), and I'm thinking of putting a USB charger port in as well. I've got a second nightlight maybe for the top that projects a globe or a moon onto the ceiling/wall, but that might be a bit much. Once I get the hang of soldering I'm adding an led light behind his eye, and there's a fan in the box on his back that should still work. Thinking of using 4x4s for the feet, as cobbling them together hasn't worked out for me. Looking forward to aging it, too!
