Hi all,

As some of you may already know one of my ancestors was John Wikes-booth, whom I'm named after (my real name:-Michael John Wilkes), anyway, I did have a lot of paper based props, items of memorabilia that I got from here and various sources over the net, but have since lost, deleted etc.. and My "4 year old" son has to compile a "project" with (a lot of) help from mummy and daddy on someone in his family famous or non famous, and I thought it would be good to do one on him as my sons name is Lincoln, in honour of one of the best presidents the US has had,

Anyways I'm hoping all you experts out there can help, I'm after a few things which i'm having issues finding decent enough copies that I can print at home, age distress etc.. I am able to print upto A3 so anything that size and smaller would be great.

after the Following but not limited to:

PDF file of his diary pages
Decent image of wanted posters
Decent high res image of the man himself
Lincoln assasination photos
photos of the weapons used to assasinate Lincoln
Diary contents or wallet contents if known

And anything else, need enought stuff to fill a 20 page A4 book the text I have will fill about 3 pages

any help appreciated, and before someone says "search is your Friend" im not looking for Movie or TV props relating to JWB bubt Actual historical ones.

thanks you in advance for your co-operation.

Attached is what I got already if anyones interested not much at the momnet but hoping you guys can help

Interesting history you have there mate. Do you have any historical information that was handed down through the family regarding Booth?

I'm not sure if you've seen this but there is a comprehensive website that has a huge amount of info, pictures and other bits and pieces about your relative. If you take a look through the picture gallery there are some ultrahigh resolution images of the items Booth had on him when he was captured.

Found on Booth | BoothieBarn

Best of luck

yea theres a few stories and I've even given a talk at my sons school - one thing that everyone forgets is that he was one of the greatest actors of his day and a very highly paid one as well, he was dead set against emancipation and hated lincoln or it (which is no secret), but this was a veiw held only by him and not the rest of the family, actually his father Junius Brutus Booth snr. was a firm suppoter of freeing slaves and to quote "Every man has the right own himself and not own any other man, regardless of colour, religion or creed", right until his death in 1852.

JWB so the family tell it was only suposed to "kidnap" lincoln on that fatful night but some people were celebrating in hte street and he saw a "former Slave" drinking at a bar near the theatre and thats what tipped the balance, and as they say the rest is history.

But so much has changed over the years the only "real" truth about him has been s lost somewhere, and legends have arisen so which do you take as the ruth !!!!... I do still have a few papers, letters to his father, brother and a few other odds and ends but not much, I do have his signature on a hotel bill or reciept from New Orleans but thats it.

and thanks for the link

Sorry, I posted an image but I see it is already included above so i deleted it but once you've posted you cannot remove your post so I have to type this message...;)

There should be scans/photos of his wanted poster floating around the internet someplace. My one teacher did this and i ended up as a coal miner from wales lol. My teacher came in full ranch hand/farmer outfit as that's what his family has been in this area for generations. It was scary how few kids knew their family histories.

I'd check Flickr for more obscure pictures. I don't believe google documents Flickr images so try a search there.

Very cool ancestors though! I don't even know my great grandmothers name!

Some maybe trivial info:in the link which KramStar provided(thanks, KramStar for doing so) there are photos of the Colt 1860 .44 Army and 1851 .36 Navy revolvers , the Sheffield,England made Rio Grande Camp Knife and his pocket knife, all found on his body. The Rio Grande knife was used to stab Maj. Rathbone, and the revolvers and Spencer carbine you've already got a photo of were picked up later. The serial number of the Colt Army is 20407 and that of the Navy is 111865(Wm.b Edwards,Civil War Guns,1997).
That diary would make a wonderful replica prop...

Regards,

Sounds like a cool project, hope this will help a little :)

This is a bootleg CdV print of Lincoln. It was fairly common in those days to take photographs of photographs (as well as drawings and/or paintings), and this is a copy of one of the more obviously famous Matthew Brady photos.

The back of the card is blank.
