John Wick (Post-release)

I got stupid excited watching as I was drinking Blantons while watching and it is the same bourbon Wick is drinking in the hotel. Ha.

How much does that stuff run a bottle, they sell it most places?

Not too much, here it runs for less than AUD$70

He's drinking 'Blantons Original Private Reserve' I bought my bottle for AUD$65 At least he isn't drinking the pricier Golden and Private reserves :p

I loved this movie, and am glad to see Keanu back in the cinema. The film was done intelligently, in my opinion, and I absoluelty loves Keanu's performance.

One of my favorite parts of the movie was when the Russian mob boss is on the phone with John Leguizamo's character, asking why he beat up his son. The reaction of, "Oh." Was perfect.

This is my favorite movie right now. I get into funks where I watch the same movie a bunch of times. The soundtrack is incredible, especially the club scenes. The filming and editing were great as well. SOOOO nice there wasn't any shaky cam. I cant get enough of it.

Something about the way he called him "Jonathan" and his reaction when Wick told him it was personal, that made me wonder if Winston wasn't his father, or an uncle, or some kind of close friend of his family that he's known since he was a kid. It will be interesting to see if they have a good back story there.

I figured they served as an underworld currency. They have obvious monetary value but I think they are what allows them access to that hotel and other services that normal money wouldn't be able to buy.

Agreed,
Standard cash can be traced, Gold , not so much. My thoughts were it was the best medium, not only for payments, but to identify that you were a proven professional that was part of that elite world.

The coins were based on the South African Krugerrand, which go for about 1200$-1500$ per coin and are made from 1oz. of gold. Easier than carrying around 1200$ in cash, no serial numbers to trace, and gold never depreciates. I thought it was a very smart choice for the film.

The way this underworld society was handled it felt like we were meeting characters that had been established years ago. I thought it worked seamlessly with the movie and i'd like to see them expand on it if they do another.

Watched it last night, LOVED it! Finally some fight scenes that look REAL, no wires, just down and dirty with a camera that actually lets you see the action! I thought for sure it was based on a graphic novel, but apparently not. I'm not a big fan of Keanu but I though he did a good job with his acting, and a GREAT job with the action. That guy is 50??!! I hope I can do that when I get there! ;)

Long as he doesn't do a Neeson and phone it in. Actually criticize him all you want, I've never seen him F-Off a role. Maybe the movies weren't great but I've never felt he was just cashing a check.

I had to necro this thread because I just watched John Wick last night and oh my god I cant believe I missed this in theaters. The reason for the revenge was heart breaking but man it was so rad. I loved everything about this movie, the sound, the action, the cinemtography, the writing, Keanu, the premise, everything. Was superb. Adrienne Palecki was gorgeous and I hated her, they got such a good punk ass to play the son, I couldnt wait for him to get his. The coins, the code, the morality of being professionals in such a seedy profession. I love how stuff was explained, the exposition was in just the right spots when it needed to be. Willem Defoes tragic end... Man. Im going to watch the second one tonight, so hopefully its half as good as this was. This movie should have done WAY better in theaters.
