Here's the newest pic from the coin company.

He took my direction on the text slightly weird. He made the text fit within the areas I told him, but didn't modify the height of the text to compensate.
I'll write a new note on the MMI and EX UNITAE VIRES. Anything else ?

So the rays around the lion are supposed to be raised... or they're supposed to be "inward"?

I'll try and have a visual done tomorrow. My computer is having a rough night.

But from what I can see straight away...

1. The EX UNITAE is still pretty large and there appears to be almost no space between EX and UNITAE.
2. The entire wreath could come down a touch.
3. All letters of EN CAUSA SUI are spaced too far apart and probably a touch undersized.
4. The lion shield is still pretty asymmetric.
5. The rays behind the lion shield are still off in position and quantity. I also believe they should be recessed, not raised.
6. The MMI is spaced too far apart (why did they even change it?).

Are they not able to use a 3D model for this? If they cannot dial in the artwork, will they accept client submitted work?

My eyes are telling me the rays behind the lion should be recessed.

He had the rays definitely RAISED on the initial pic, I didn't even show that pic, and I told him the rays needed to cut into the surface of the coin. This is the result. I THINK he got them right the second time.

Yes, you saw the same text issues I did.

As to the lion shield, there is a top half and a bottom half. Do you want the top left half to mirror the top right half ? Or do you mean the big rays under the lion ?

But if it is a success, he has stated there is a big chance for another run
And he is listing people for a waiting list just in case some people drop out.

I don't know if I just don't understand the picture correctly but on the second pic you showed us, the rays are a level 2 and the background is a level 3 wich is the lowest level. If I'm correct, this mean the rays are raised.

Alright, here's what I came up with in the limited time I had available today.

I'm getting the impression they are just doing this in Photoshop and only trying to get close, not exact.

To better explain the rays of the shield, as far as I can tell, they all come from the center point of the "sun" as shown below. It should be symmetric from left to right. (I'm only showing the ray extension lines on the left to show my point.)

Yes, which means perfection isn't an option. Trying to make such a person give you a perfect product is a lesson in futility.

So, for my next communication with him, let's keep it simple. I want you to give me a picture with just his last coin and your proposed changes to JUST the text and the three lines in the top left lion shield that you want moved. I'm not a perfectionist either....but his last attempt at the text was horrible. The rest of the coin is actually pretty decent compared to the text. The rest could use improvement....but getting the text right is MORE important.

Once the text is right, then we can try some tweaking to the rest.
