so i've been working away on the coins....these little guys take a while to make...around 2 hours each coin.
i've decided i'm going to have to charge for shipping after all or i'd only be making less then $3 an hour.
so i think i'm going to do the expedited small flat rate box which is $6....that gets to you 3 days after i send it (within the usa), it's got tracking and its insured.
i'm keeping the coins at $15 each.
while waiting on some coins to nickel plate....i started toying around with ideas of how i'd display the coin.
so i grabbed some foam core and silver dollar cases and i came up with this as a prototype:
it came out rather well! ( it looks like the coin is floating in space when you hold it in your hands. )
i might put something on the back along the lines of : " FUN FACT....john wick used this coin to pay for a reservation of six"
so i took it down to a buddy who has a framing shop....he's going to try and cut the holes out with his mat cutting machine and get back to me tomorrow. i had to do this one by hand with a coping saw which is a big pain in the butt, but could be done if i had to in multiples. (as of right now this is just an idea)
i think later i will try it with a frame around it and gold plated 9mm shells glued together around the frame.

Wow i love your display idea. Since i want to display both sides of the coin at the same time, I think a trip to Michael's or Hobby Lobby to find a craft cutter stamp. Hopefully they have one the right (or close) size.

and Treeman....you probably won't have to run out to the store to find the cutter. if i can pull it off i want to send the coins out this way....that way it's kind of a "pull it out of the box and display it" kind of thing. i just kept thinking about how i didn't want to just wrap up a coin in bubble wrap and send it off.....trying to make it look a little more respectable. so i ordered all the stuff in to do it. i have to go to the frame shop today and see if my buddy's computerized mat cutter can do a circle that small or not.
if so we can program the size of the rectangle and where the circle goes and let the computer cut out like 10 at a time on 1 board! i'm crossing my fingers it works.
if not i'll be doing them by hand with a coping saw.

I would think one display per person would be fine. I would display mine in a pile on a shelf but one coin in a display by the pile might make sense for those friends that don't immediately recognize the coin.

i guess i could make them optional to the people that want one.....i will however be putting the coins in those protective coin cases just to send out.
