John Constantine (movie) 1:6 scale Sculpt

I know, I know... I haven't even finished my other projects... and I'm already starting new ones... heck... I got several projects that I just work on a little bit here and there... hope to finish before the next millennium! :lol

However, I just bought myself a Keanu Reeves head and wanted to do a Constantine figure, building the head a body, so it wouldn't feel so alone... and thought I'd mention it here to see if there were any suggestions for poses.

The pose I had in mind is pretty simple, imo, with him standing, looking slightly to the left, while tabbing a cigarette out of the pack. I could possibly do a drawing and post it here - but I warn you... it will not be anything fancy as the other stuff people show off in here... these people are insane with what they can do... even just for a sketch.

But again... I welcome interesting suggestions. :thumbsup

:cheers

Well, this is the head I bought...

Keanu.jpg

just waiting to receive it, so I can start work on the body.

And this is the closest picture I've found so far that somewhat shows what kind of pose I was planning:

Yes, I mirrored the original drawing. Just forget the cigarette in his mouth... and that the arms are too high for where I want them to be... just a simple reference picture.

Anyone got any thoughts I'd be happy to hear them.

Greetings NoHumorMan,

I've got to see a litte bit of your work here in the past and I know that whatever you decide to do, it will look amazing.

My suggestion for what its worth would be to go for the main poster look, with the crossbow etc, the only reason I make that suggestion, because its Keanu rather than a proper Hellblazer character reproduction.

I think the picture example you show would be a great project on its own.

Thank you and take care

Re: John Constantine (movie) 1:6 scale figure

I would definitely sculpt new hair. But nice find on the head!

Re: John Constantine (movie) 1:6 scale figure

Well, here's a picture of the build-up of the body. Don't mind the abnormally long looking torso - it just looks long because I haven't built it up properly yet and worked on the legs enough. The arms need to be re-positioned, so he looks less like he's about to fight, but a calm stance about to get a cigarette.

Hope you like the current progress. Used up all of my old super sculpey that I had used on the other incarnations of the Ginger Snaps kits... so that's cool.

New hair will definitely be done on this head cast, as the current hair cut isn't exactly true enough for Constantine, imo.

Cheers.

Here's a picture of the current progress. hope you like.

Just hope the body is not too long and too big for the size of the head.

Re: John Constantine (movie) 1:6 scale figure

Looking good NoHumorMan. I think the proportions and overall frame seem to be in the right direction. Might help checking out the Matrix movies as he wears humble clothing in the real world scenes and maybe will give you a better reference for the proportions etc. :thumbsup

Re: John Constantine (movie) 1:6 scale figure

Oh... completely forgot to update this one... whoops... have come a little further, but not much... other stuff has taken much of my energy, so haven't had much to spare on this one.

Have worked on forming the main folds in the shirt area that will be visible through the open jacket and have pretty much finished the collar... though, I think I need to redo that area to come up with a better solution to keeping his head attached - as it is now it's a bit of an unknown whether it will stay in place or fall of eventually, but not to worry: have already figured out how to fix it.

I won't have time to work on him until January, so I can't really give you guys much of an update, but hope to have something for you soon.

Re: John Constantine (movie) 1:6 scale figure

Hmm... I must have forgotten this thread. Did a lot to the figure since my last showing, such as a new pose and more detailing. The new pose is the "Into the Light I Command Thee!" in case someone couldn't guess! :)

This is how it looked early February. Included this one so you could see him with the head on.

And here's the present progress.

Hope you like the new look. Can't believe I forgot to show you.

Got tired of looking at the unfinished piece, and was particularly annoyed with his legs and pose, so snapped off the arms and legs and decided to make it into a bust instead, slowly rebuilding the damaged areas from the breaking apart of the pieces. The base will have an array of arms reaching up towards him all around him and possibly a snarling head of some sort.

I'm thinking of whether I should have him holding the lighter in one hand or something.

Well, I can't take credit for the likeness, as I didn't sculpt it. I'm only supplying a body for the head sculpt. But thanks.

I thought about the shutgun for about 2 seconds then acknowledged that it'd be tough to sculpt decently.

Too bad it’s not a 1/12 scale Keanu, I could use one for my GMC bus.
Anyway, you’re a better sculpture then I am:thumbsup

This is utterly incredible!!!! Constantine is one of my fave flicks!! your likeness to John is , frankly , astonishing!!!!! The mere fact that you are modelling him bringing the twin tattoos together further astonishes me!!

This is truly incredible work and i'm glad that there are people like you around who appreciate this film the way i do!!!!

....Now if only someone could replicate Satan (Little Horn) from this movie!!!!

Thanks for the high praise, but again... I'm only responsible for the body.

Sadly, the arms cracked all over because I didn't bake it in time, but I've saved the parts that were relatively intact and possible to fix... but it may be a moot point.

The bust pose may not feature the twin tatoos as the previous pose did, but it was a strong pose, so may re-do that.

With this new progress, I think the arms will be the last to be done, getting minor details right first.

Little Horn would be an interesting sculpt, with the suit, bare feet and Peter Stomare's likeness. The character is in the detailing.

A bit more work on the coat collar. Will make new hands for him, as the old ones were just too poor compared to what I can do now. Also, when putting the hands together for the "Into the Light" spell, Keanu Reeves have a very specific way of putting his hands, so that will have to be worked into it if that particular pose is chosen.

It was a good thing I removed the arms, otherwise I couldn't have done the detailing on the front of the coat, the tie, etc., so at least one good thing came from that.

Cheers.

An approximation on how the arm will look, using one of the old arms - what you don't see are all the cracks... basically... it's like a pull-apart 3d jigsaw puzzle. New arms are coming. Just wanted to see how it'd look.
