JJA's Star Trek phaser...

Has anyone attempted one yet (other than Playmates lol)?

I just watched it on PPV the other night and the coolest part I thought was the pivoting blue to red emitter; that would be awesome to have for a prop...

Oh, and slightly OT, Izzit just me or did anyone else see an almost eerie facial resemblance between (hairstyle notwithstanding) Chris Pine and ROTJ era Mark Hamill?

I thought we were waiting to see what the licensee would be coming up with. That would be EFX I guess?

Can't say I agree on Pine looking like Hamill. He did make for a plausible young Kirk I thought.

I love the detail on the new phasers - It will likely be a while before anyone tries on a prop - since the FEDERATION Prop police will hunt you down and feed you to a KLINGON for unauthorized - licensed- NEW MOVIE phaser reproduction. I ran across some posted pics of the actual props on the web ..... SWEET. :love

I think the toy version is less than 1:1 scale.

QMx has the license for prop replicas for Trek 2009

I made this before the movie or the toys came out. It's not 100% accurate, but it is fairly close.

SWEET !! Prop. Have any more PICS? I love the details. You won't hear me complain about accuracy. Making a prop is an art in itself. We are limited by the source material - then we get creative. Way COOL! Thanks. :thumbsup

My favorite Star Trek Phaser Design came from the WORST ST Movie Ever made - ST V - The Assault Phaser. I have several different kits - none are accurate - but I would not part with any of them. I plan to add one more to the arsenal. :love

I have one of the sporak kits below. Mine was a bit different, as the resin was infused with aluminum particles I think, but the result is a much nicer weight. It has since been repainted, and looks a lot better. This was when I first got it and couldn't wait to put it together and paint it.

Looking at the above pictures, I much prefer the phaser used on the Kelvin. It looks fairly TOS, but updated. I have no idea why they had to make such a change to something that looks like a 50's ray gun.

Thanks Gordon for the kind words. Here's some more pics.

This one is resin, I made a mold of my prototype because some of my friends also wanted them. And Sporak was kind enough to cast them up for me.

Personally, I'm more interested in those Romulan disruptor pistols. Those are pretty cool.

Here's what I've got done so far on one of those. I haven't worked on it since before the holidays. I guess I ought to blow the dust off of it and see about finishing it up.

I'm also working on a Kelvin phaser, but I don't have any pics of it at this time.

Those Romulan Disruptors look cool also - they do not look that complicated in design. I can't say there are many Trek Props I don't like. I remember making my first Star Trek Phaser out of LEGOs when I was about seven. Mom said I could only use a STUN setting on the dog :love.

Anyone make a Romulan weapon yet?

I found a cool Trek Web episode site - downloadable episodes with REAL Trek actors. The Props of course are SWEEEeet.

Great work! What is a Kelvin Phaser ? PICS ? I don't know that one.

Thanks for the post. It looks like some of the componant parts are Metal Tools - ... socket wrenches ... and the like. I almost like that phaser as much as the rotating nozzle one. I would have like to have seen SULU whip out a GATTLING PHASER CANNON and mow down a few Romulan thugs .... at least he did have a folding Samurai Sword :love

Thanks for the information - I did not even notice the KELVIN phaser in the movie. I thought the pic in the display was an early version shelved in favor of the rotating nozzle version. Thanks for the RPF to get the scoop!
