I ordered a gun kit from him. Told me it would be here by end of this month, mail ran, no show. Not responding to any emails. I really did not want to contact pay pal, I wanted the kit.

Hey Mustang, can you please PM me with your name as well as what item you purchased (I sell different pistol kits), and whether you got it from me off Etsy or purchased from me through PMs? Its possible your order got lost in the frenzy. Thanks.

You can always PM me here, contact me through my FB fan page JJ Armory Inc, or contact me via Etsy. I'll be the first to admit I do not check my email very often simply by virtue of the sheer number of emails I get daily.

I'm in a similar situation, I purchased an item from JJ Armory via their Etsy shop back in April and still haven't received it (or, in fact, seen any progress pics). It's now a month past the listing's advertised shipping window, as well as two weeks past an ETA they gave me after I specifically asked about it as I was going out of town briefly and didn't want to cause any issues (they assured me it would be delivered before I left, but I've now been back for a week and it's still not even shipped). I sent a message last Wednesday asking for an update, and again on Saturday - still no response. At this point I'm looking at alternatives to the item in question and am getting ready to pester them for a refund, as I feel this is just unacceptable business practice between the consistent failure to meet expectations and the lack of proper communication, AND up to this point I've seen nothing to indicate that the item I purchased even exists, let alone is nearing completion/shipping.

I got a response from them, and apparently my package was just shipped today and will arrive next Wednesday...Will update if/when that happens. They say it was shipped last week but the tracking number definitely shows it being shipped today, so I'm pretty sure they just blew off my order until I started harassing them and then they quickly wrapped it up, snapped a couple pics, and kicked it out the door. Boy I hope it's at least decent quality when it gets here, this has just been a comedy of errors...

Well I jsut got home and picked up my mail, and the item I ordered (a custom-painted halo suit) did indeed arrive. However, the quality is quite shoddy and they charged me double for shipping but were "generous" enough to refund me the markup after all the delays. The velcro is peeling or only half-stuck-on, the paintjob seems unfinished with no clear coat and poor adhesion, and is missing all the details that were in the original item description and photos, and there are numerous paint drips.

I am going to push them for a return and refund, this is in no way worth the hassle or money.

EDIT: Here are some quick pics of the issues I'm talking about, not at all what I asked or paid for:

And this is the current listing for the same suit, with their pics to show what I thought I was getting. I did ask for "less weathering" and no John-117 specific numbering/rank, but specifically mentioned I wanted the other details.

They responded quickly and amicably, and say they will give me a full refund once they receive the returned item. I've sent it back to them via UPS with tracking, and will update once I receive the refund - it may have been a subpar transaction, but it looks like they're no thief at least.

What needs to be realized these items take time. Its not like you order and then its shipped off. It takes months to make this stuff, customize, paint or cast items. patients is a virtue with props. And people have other projects they are working on. I think it is very not appropriate to make a thread about someone's business name to bash them. That issue needs to be directed to the seller only and not to the public

They are a business who have been called out for bad communications and shoddy end product. I think you'll find that if you go to Amazon or plenty of other online outlets there is a feature for providing feedback. Why should prop buying be any different? I wouldn't buy from them after reading this thread, and I'm sure many other members wouldn't either. The guy is member here, yet he hasn't posted to explain his communications and product issues. Caveat emptor.

If you feel making a thread to point out an unsatisfied service for a specific purchase/ company then be my guest. That action is not allowed in other places. Bit if its allowed here then so be it.

Wow! You think we don't realize how long or what's involved in making a prop??? Glad you're here to educate us in the whole three minutes you've been a member of this community! We KNOW how long it takes. So let me ask you, how long do YOU give someone before you realize you've been ripped off?

I give 3-4 months. And yes im new to this group but not to costuming. And the point of me posting on this thread was not to talk about time, but to point out a thread was used to bash a company.

It really takes no time to pour up a kit, building on the other hand will. I had never heard of them before, I made my order. All it was to be was a kit as a gift to a friend. They kept saying just 2 more weeks. This went on for a couple of months, and was for me, enough.
This is not a bash thread, but a warning to others.
As to other boards, they all have the same place to warn others of such things.

A sockpuppet is a second account used by the person who is in trouble or an account made by one of their friends to defend them and cause trouble.

No worries no one is offended here by yours.

You need to read or re-read the coc as it seems you are missing some of the concepts and rules here by your posts

Again if this type of thread disturbs you then this is really not the place for you.

Right. All of us know that. However, what the buyer should be able to expect is open and honest communication with realistic time guarantees from the seller.

If you purchase something and the website says it will take a month to assemble and then ship....it should take a month to assemble and ship. If it is going to take longer after the order is placed, the seller needs to communicate that to the buyer before or around the original promised time it would be delivered. If the seller proactively sent out an email at the four week mark and said, "hey, I'm a little backed up right now, this is going to be two more weeks," then most people would be fine with that.

What becomes a problem is when the seller doesn't say anything and it gets to 2 or 3 weeks past the promised delivery date and the buyer has to pester the seller to find out what is going on with their order. That is bad business. Period. That's why I won't order from Parks. Thank God I was able to read about his customer service on here before I went and ordered one of his "in stock ready to ship" MPPs.

Thank you, That is a response I was waiting for. Yes and I believe you are 100% correct sir. It is the responsibility of the seller for a professional product and to keep the customer satisfied. :)

I just wanted to say that a response like yours is how its done on the 405th. Very professional and I thank you for it. I'm not used to people treating fellow members poorly. Others took my post to this thread in a bad way. We are not allowed to talk about purchases or complaints about a purchase in a thread like this on the 405th. It attracts negative attitudes and the 405th doesn't want that happening. So when I see a post about negativity, we 405th members get defensive for the thread owner because we don't tolerate bad/ negative behavior. But I now realize the RPF does tolerate bad behavior. Its just different and im not used to it. But thank you for your respectful response. :)

So you think the RPF tolerates bad behavior because people disagreed with your way of thinking? Then perhaps you would be happier at the "405th" (whatever THAT is)

If a negative conversation starts a website manager steps in and stops it. Preventing feuds from starting so something bad doesn't happen then we are told to take the conversation to a private one. The 405th and RPF are apart of the same site. The 405th is its own section but ran by the same people. Its on this site just click on popular franchise on the toolbar. I don't think anybody here is bad. Its just a different set of rules I have to get used to. Im the new guy here lol. The last thing I want to do is gain enemies on the first day

Well I paid $650 (plus $100 for inflated shipping), they've recently raised their prices and I ordered without a helmet for a small discount. But they aren't even casting the pieces, it's an off-the-shelf replica from Rubie's that they supposedly "reworked" to make it better, and then gave a custom paintjob. Except that the suit is crap and the paint was half-assed.

Wasn't trying to bash anyone, was trying to give an accurate account of events and I made sure to post when they were fast/polite and open to a refund. If I wanted to bash them I could have just not posted about anything positive from their end, but that would be pretty underhanded. My issue was initially that the shipping estimate came and went without warning, when I asked them about it they gave me an updated estimate specifically because I told them I was going out of town for a time, and then after I got BACK from my trip the item still had not shipped and there was no word from them, so I had to pester them AGAIN, only to receive a very flimsy lie and a shoddy item, and the realization that they had charged me double what the shipping actually cost (they charged me $100, the receipt ON THE BOX was for $52 and change).
