JJ ABRAMS Enterprise

I rather be a "Grumpy Old Man" than a middle-aged guy grasping at his youth by trying to be "hip" and bowing down to the MTV/90210 mentality of movie making.

I think the 90210 reference is a bit dated, maybe for something in the 90's but that show has been off the air for so long (8 years) it is losing it's usefulness as an insult - yeah there is a new version but it sucks, and does not have the wide spread pop-culture acceptance that made the original such a good reference for all that was wrong with the world. :unsure

There must be something new to represent the new 20 something crowd, something that sums up the fast cut action scenes that make it hard to watch a fight and know what is happening. Although i think it is style over having to pay for a good fight coordinator, it is a hip-young-film maker type of thing and would be more relevant to a slam against someone trying to appeal to the masses.

Hmmmm...

Now now, fellas... no need to start arguing a-mano.

There's plenty of superfluous, niggling, useless science fiction movie crapola to argue about!

We like what we like. All of us.

But I bet they use a lot of "shaky cam" in this one....

new enterprise was NOT designed by Eaves. it was designed by Ryan Church

True. Remember that one man doesn't sail the ship alone. I'm sure he had a team and they all had to answer to others in the food chain.

Ryan Church is a great concept artist. I really doubt any of the "Grumpy Old Men" could do anything remotely close. But I guess that's what critics are for! :lol

Don't you dare dissuade Mic from his rampage! He's had this pent up after all these years of being optimistic, open-minded, and accepting.

That's easy. The Bourne movies, do that nicely.
True. Although I like them in general they do commit one of the biggest action movie sins in my eyes. Speed up the film during a fight to make the actors seems faster. The dumbest, most obvious and saddest movie trick in my book:unsure

I must be having a dyslexia day, I could not figure out why someone would call you bigtoed? how would they know the size of your toes?

hey if your strongly opinionated you ARE bigoted..:) Join the club:lol

Your???

You Are=You're.

big⋅ot⋅ed   [big-uh-tid] Show IPA Pronunciation
–adjective
utterly intolerant of any creed, belief, or opinion that differs from one's own.

Sorry, strong willed, no doubt. Utterly intolerant, not even close.

I'm up. Did I miss anything? :D

I don't think the struts are "upside down" compared to the 1701-A... well the main dorsal neck is kind of inverted I guess. The Warp engine pylons are kind of straight up and down but organically curved at the ends. And bowed outward. As opposed to the angled-back airplane-wing-like wedge of the 1701-A pylons.

I like what Harry had to say. If I see what he saw I'll be reasonably happy.

Part of the Trek 'legacy' is having great potential and rarely living up to it. If they really have honored some essence of the characters, if there are a few great moments, then they will have done as well as the old show, which had a few great moments scattered in a sea of okay.

But the new Enterprise still looks like an oversexed dragster. :p

The engine struts by the way are very tapered, and in the opposite direction of the A's, just as was said. :) (Not one of my gripes with the new design though.)

I'm kind of curious if there is a shuttle bay.

The ass end of the secondary hull looks awful thin back there.
