You treat the cardboard the same way as card stock, resin it and glass it etc
Stealth has used foam files with cardboard to make at least one IP helmet, that I know of, could be more
You're just combining the speed of foam with the hardness of pep

So my wife has decided we're hosting a New years fancy dress party which means I need a new costume as most people have seen Iron Man and he's pretty bashed up anyway.
I've decided I'm going to be the first to use the Stormtrooper files JF made! I've ordered 7 of the Pink Decathlon mats JF uses and once they arrive I'll get building.
I've also found a Foam unfold of a Stormtrooper helmet which I'm going to have a go at also as I want to keep the build as cheap as possible.

I think that's the same one I found, not sure how easy it will be to make with the mat foam but I'll give it a go.

It's reachable. Just be patient, don't rush anything, bevel conscientiously every needed edges, and steer the glue overflows to the inside.

I am new to the RPF and this thread has to be one of, if not the most interesting so far for me. Learning about these types of files and forms will be exciting.

This forum is great! :D

Thank you for posting the full head all together.... It will help a lot with the detailing.

Do you think 3.2mm foam is to thin as a base for a Iron man suit.
It would be coated with apoxy resin bringing it up to about 5mm before paint.

I've seen a couple different methods of replicating costumes/props from well known games, movies, and T.V. shows. I honestly think the foam method comes out with the best product. Even if it isn't the easiest. Thanks for the files on the space marine :D It took me awhile to find this and it will save me a lot of time.
I was wondering if you or anyone who reads this might have files for a set of Dwarven armor from Skyrim? I've tried looking, but to no avail haven't found any that would work. I can find plenty for different armor such as the daedric armor but i just love how the Dwarven armor looks. If anyone can help me out, you'd save me a lot of trouble.

My 7 decathlon mats arrived today they seem much stronger than the camping mats they don't tear but are the same thickness and price, can't wait to get my templates all cut out and get started with this stuff. Thanks for the recommendation JF

if you are looking at using cardboard... this is my cardboard Iron Patriot helmet using JFcustoms foam unfold, as you can see it does work and very well based on the effort you are willing to put into it. I have also fiberglassed a torso chest/back this way but i dont know if i'll use it as its far to stiff and ridged for a funtional costume, foam flexes which allows you to do alot.

Nice work there Dadpool! Is that the glassed chest/back in the photo?
Your helmet looks AMAZING! Do you have any photos from the build?

You come reccommended to me as I was looking for C-3PO files. I'm a total noob when it comes to foam building (or any sort of build except chainmail) so this will be an interesting learning curve, I imagine.

Thanks for sharing (and I definitely subscribed to the thread... I'm gonna need the guidance).
