sorry to hear that, but the naked people ALWAYS win. It's ridiculous because they don't put much work into a costume.

hey, if you came in #2 behind a hot naked girl, i'd call that a win!

great job, it looks like you walked right out of mouseville with it!

thanx all

Not to ruin your spotlight, but how much of the costume did you actually make? There were plenty of people who were furious that you were able to take home the prize for simply wearing a costume that you did not make, if that was really the case. As far as I know, the rest of the contestants made their own costume.

alrighty then... thank you very much for saying that my work looks bought it is a real compliment :) 90% of my costume is made by me you see i work at joanns fabrics and kinda have a skill for this type of stuff... the only things i didnt personally make were the gloves, pants and my belt

Would be great and kind if you post a tutorial on how to make a mask like yours! it really seems like bought, probably that's the reason of Koobecafees' post - see an example in the link below.

im guna go through my old computer and see if i can come across ant progress pics but a small write up on how i went about my build.
i first started with 2 yards of 5 in foam which i cut into piece and glued ontop of one another creating a block shape instead of a sheet. from there i drew on the front and sides of the foam to get a general idea of how i was going to shape the face. I used and electric knife to cut away the larger parts of the foam and from there used scissors to remove small pieces until i was happy with the shape, i got my technique from furries and a lot of youtube tutorials.
from there i used 1inch foam to crean the rest of the heads rounded shape and also the ears. From there i used a wire hanger to keep the shape of the bottom of the mask. then i masking taped the entire thing drew a pattern on the tape and removed the tape in pieces cut my fabric to the shape and did some sewing, i ended up attaching the ears after coving in fabric, i used from thin netting for the inside of the eyes and vinyl for the outer area and went ahead and airbrushed the cheeks

i also thought posting this thread would be beneficial and not vise versa

Thanks a lot for having shared your building process! So the "skin" seems so "smooth" because it has been covered with cutted tissue which has been airbrushed, if I have understood well. And what kind of tissue did you use for the skin and the black parts like ears, head in general and nose - If I would do something similar I would use a 4way strech tissue, but as I never made it I may be wrong - ?
P.s. according my previous post, I din't mean to offend at all, but just to emphasize your job is really professional compared to the stuff you can find on the market.

I would be interested in seeing photos of your costume as well. This is a costume I've played with the idea of making since I owe a Mickey Mouse mask myself.

Can you repost your pics? I would love to see this costume!

For those curious, I was able to find these based on the con's photos.

I never accused you of anything. I just pointed out that many people were not pleased with the competition results. Granted, you won the Con Chairman Award, based solely on the chairman's favorite costume, the costume contest is usually a contest based on craftsmanship and I can see why the people would be unhappy with the results if you had not made your costume.
