Jayne T-Shirts

I hear a lot of talk about Jayne shirts, and some of the labels are obvious: BluSun, Pinup. Others I can't get, like the Troublemaker or Bigfish (is that right?) Can someone post pictures of these with the currently common description?

Also, is there a better place to get them than cafepress?

I know the Troublemaker shirt is his yellow shirt with the gun on the front and chinese character(s) on the shoulder.

Well, I have spent a fair amount of time cataloging Jayne's various shirts, I'm pretty sure these are all of them, but I could alwsy be wrong. Most of the shirts in the movie were just copies of ones from the show, but with a few altered details

Warning: Lots of pics

First up, the Blue Sun shirt:

Then the Trouble Maker shirt:

Then the Pin-up shirt:
There was a movie and series version of this on as well, but they are too similar to post both, so heres the movie version:

Then theres the Dead Fish shirt:
This is the best picture of the screen used one I could find.

Last is a shirt that I'm not even sure was shown on screen, it may have just been used in promo shots:

(None of thes pictures are mine I found them all on the net)

After reading the costumes in every day life thread, I was going to post the same thread. Everyone spouting fighting elves and dead fish, got me interested. :lol

Thanks for the pictures and descriptions tho JPM13, it's really helpful, it'd be interesting to find out what the design on the last T-Shirt is like.

The last shirt with the skull on the shoulder was screen worn, Jayne is wearing it in the last scene of the Pilot episode where Mal asks him why Jayne didn't turn on him etc.

I really.....really would love to see a replica of that one.

Great summary.

Why is "fighting elves" called that? Maybe I'm failing my Rorshach test but I don't see any elves. Seems "28" would've been much more obvious and descriptive. ("elves" has stuck, though, so I don't suggest confusing things by trying to establish a new name.)

Apparently the Chinese along the top reads "The Fighting Elves," as though it's number 28 of a team, or something like that.

Mechamaniac: The last shirt - I don't think it's a skull. I once had a thread bookmarked where a Firefly fan named Hell's Kitten was trying to re-create various Jayne shirts, and she had labeled that one "Water." [EDIT: Here's the thread I mentioned.] As far as I can tell from looking at the episode, there's some sort of Chinese character in the big red circle, and underneath the circle it says "ENJOY" in very stylized letters. I tend to agree with you on one point, though - it's one of my favorite Jayne shirts, and I'd near kill for a replica.

There's another version of the "Smoker" shirt. It's also from the movie, but I'm not sure if it's ever seen on-screen:

Aaand there's another version of the Dead Fish shirt, but once again I don't think it got any screen time. However, I've taken a close look at both this one and the Serenity version, and I have concluded that the Chinese character in the background is simply an enlarged and spikified version of the small one in this picture. If anything, this helps you see what the fish is like:

And one last thing - TenthCrewMember at fireflyfans.net scraped together a cleaned-up version of this pre-production Dead Fish shirt: link

THANK YOU. Very helpful.

No problem. :) Anything that gets Jayne shirts more publicity is fine by me. I just hope somebody has the nerve to continue making them with the risk of C&Ds...

I have a movie "Troublemaker", a "pinup", a series canji "Blue Sun" and a "Fighting Elves", which is my favorite.
I always imagined that the Fighting Elves was an Independent (Browncoat) fighting unit, like Mal was in the 57 Overlanders.
I'm sure they weren't an Alliance unit cuz Mal would throw Jayne out the airlock.

Why does Jayne seem to have more shirts than anyone else in the series? :p

I think I have an extra Troublem maker shirt if any one is intrested.

Ooh. What size? And is it from the earlier iron-on run or the later screenprinted run?

Well, maybe there's an irony of sorts there... the crew member with the dirtiest mind always has a clean change of clothes waiting. :lol

The Tiger shirt (From Heart of Gold)

I have noticed lately that Walmart is carrying a line of t-shirts that are opposing color ringers, for around $8.00. They also have some muscle tees, no sleeves, that have oriental designs and print on them. Just an observation, carry on.

For now, I just want a Blue Sun shirt. As someone asked earlier, is cafepess the only place to get these. I was all set to order from bluesunshirts.com when they went bye-bye.:cry

And yes, I'm all for protecting intellectual property, copyrights and such. So, come on Universal, release licensed shirts or sanction someone who already does and just take a small cut of that.

Nice! I'd love to have this 'Smoking Shirt'. Reminds me of Ruan Ling-Yu, iconic star of the 'Golden Age' of Chinese cinema.

You may remember her picture as my avatar a few months ago:
