Ok I need some help.

Does anyone have any references or idea on how the original ANH Jawa masks were made?

I can't find any info on them to save my life!!!

Do you mean the hood/black face mask or the light-up eyes? I believe the original light up eyes were incandecent lamps mounted to a peice of wood painted black and tied around the head.
From TK409's site:

Did you find this thread on making custom jawa masks?

Sure beats the original pillow case & gaffer tape version!

I did a forum search and nothing showed up!

Thanks guys! Those help a lot! It's wierd, I did almost the exact same thing as TK409 for my wife's Jawa mask - I used 1w Luxeons that were covered with amber colored stones (like flower vase stones) though.

I just wanted to see what they did in the movies - but canon isn't always the way to go I guess!

Thanks again!

If anyone else has some ideas, please post 'em! :thumbsup

For my daughter's costume, I used a cheap halloween hockey mask. I covered the eye and breathing holes with window screen first. Then I made eye out of a couple LEDs and a battery pack (found a wired set on ebay for $5, saving me the hassle). I took two small gumball machine capsules, the kind that toy rings come in, and used a wire brush bit on my dremel to rough up the clear part so it would diffuse the light. I stuck these over top of the LEDS and glued it to the mask.

Then I just tore strips of black fabric and glued it over the face, like a mini black tusken. So if anyone got a close up look, it would look "right". Worked great!

Last year during Halloween, I saw a mask that had the face blacked over and yellowy-orange eyes that would blink on and off. Looked exactly like a Jawa...
