James Bond: Skyfall (Post-release) (Spoilers - Don't hover over the title)

1) ANy field agent taksed with backing up bond on such an important mission wouldnt have hesitated to take 'the shot', and then when she shot bond, she would have immediatley shot the bad guy rather than watching ion shock as he escapes.
My interpretation is that we saw several views edited together which makes the sequence seems longer than it actually was. We see her. Bond shot and falling. Then the bad guy enter the tunnel. It probably happened so quick, she was only able to take one shot.
As for her hesitating, she just wasn't a good agent. We dont know the circumstances of her being on this mission with Bond. It probably want planned, and in the last second, she was all that was available.

2) Q. Good actor but silly to have someone so young and with OTT hair. Its this kind of thing that snaps you out of the film.

I thought he was perfect.

Google Bobak Ferdowsi. He is a guy that works on the Mars Rover. Now his hair would have taken me out of the movie, lol.

3) M driving around with only tanner by her side??? Stopping and getting out of her car without bodyguars is dumb, but even dumber considering whats happening.

Everyone is overconfident. This movie changes all of that.

4) Judi dench as M seems to only be able to hold her own with bond. As soon as an external power begins to question her she goes all timmid (remember her in Quantum having to defend bond to the minister??)

I wanted her to be a little more bold at the questioning too.

5) Bad guy is a lttle OTT for my tastes. Kind of hard to believe he couldnt have just got to M a lot earlier (consider she drives arounnd without bodyguards, goes home alone, and has no security at her home.

He wanted to make a spectacle of it. He has issues. He wants attention.

6) Bond girls seem totally irrelevant...although Berenice Marlohe is beautiful. Very under used though.

"Waste of good Scotch!"

I wonder if anyone can explain why Bond knew anything about, or even the reason for the existence of, the Goldfinger DB5 when Bond was "restarted" with Casino Royale?

ie If James Bond became 007 in 2006, what is he doing with a 1964 car full of spy-type gadgets?

The continuity isn't going to be perfect. Casino Royale was an origin story, but they used text messaging. You just have to ignore some things, and just enjoy them for what they are.

Putting the old DB5 in there was great. The theatre I was in all applauded as soon as they saw it.

Just came back from seeing in in IMAX. Very good film. Great opening sequence and some nifty Bond moves along the way. I noticed Chris Corboulds name in the opening titles for Special Effects and Miniatures. Once I saw this I was guessing what the miniatures would be. Then I saw the train go through the hole in the tunnel and figured it out :lol. Just like the end of Batman Begins with Ra's Al Ghul, which he did as well.
A few other scenes in the movie reminded me of other movies.
The setting up of the traps at Skyfall reminded me of Kevin McCallester in Home Alone.
The house also reminded me of Batman Begins when Bruce comes back to the house for the hearing, and everything is covered in white drapes and curtains.
Silva was very Joker like as previously mentioned, also taking on a police officer disguise to attempt to assassinate a public official.
Bond had a similar story to Bruce Wayne from TDKR, both being out of the game for a little while and both being drawn back to protect their cities when trouble strikes, while they both weren't the same physically.
Also, anyone notice the B.W. crate in the house? Bruce Wayne? :lol
And one last comparison, the music that played during the final battle at Skyfall had a very Zimmer Batman sound to it.

At least the explosive pen didn't have a ˜ç™£•®™¡£¶ LED light telling us whether or not it was armed. I mean, really? We as an audience had to have it spelled out for us with bright shiny red lights that the gun wouldn't work? Please tell me you have more faith in your audience than that.

The 3 LEDs weren't to show that the gun was armed. Q tells Bond how the PPKs is coded to his palm print and will only fire if he is holding it. We see Bond hold it and the 3 LEDs turn green. When the body guard gets it, they go red.

It's still not clear to me how Bond survived the sniper bullet and fall (and although we see his bullet wound from the assassin's semiauto hand gun I never saw where he was hit by Moneypenny) and how Silva escaped the X-Men/Avengers lucite prison of doom. :confused

Since Silva knew all the procedures that MI6 was going to take and was basically 1 step ahead, I'm guessing he had some computer program set up to unlock all the doors when Q hooked into the system. We see the doors in the floor open up and then Bond realizes that all the doors will open as he runs to the glass prison cell thing.

So... what do you call the state of the gun in when it's green? Pew Pew mode? And I believe the whole point of my post was WHY DO WE NEED LEDS IN THE FIRST PLACE?

M: I don't trust Bond to finish the job, but I certainly trust you, inexperienced field agent! TAKE THE BLOODY SHOT!

*Later when Bond comes back as an out of shape drunk*

M: I trust Bond so implicitly that I'm going to put him on active duty even though he literally gave up on his previous assignment and failed every test.

*Bond, now back on assignment and protecting M, chooses to use M as bait which results in her getting murdered*

Rotten Tomatoes: One of the best 007 films to date.

:behave Yeah. Right.

Because if you gripped it in the wrong way or it otherwise didn't get a good read on your palm print, it wouldn't be armed. You'd kinda want to know that.

Thought this was a damned good movie. Silva was creepy and menacing, Bardem really nailed it. The nods to old films took me out a little bit, but I can appreciate them as tips of the hat to fans who've been through the whole gamut of Bond. What I liked the most, kind of silly, is that we finally got the mid-movie blaring horns 007 theme. The last two kind of hinted at it, and phrases from the theme here and there, but this time they finally let the theme cut loose before the credits rolled and I really appreciated it. It's an auditory cue that makes Bond just as much, if not more, than any actor playing him. I'm excited to see what's next.

My wife and I just (for fun) assumed he modified it himself (or had it done) after winning it in the Bahamas.

Doesn't sound like a very practical weapon to have on hand when a situation gets real tense real fast. You shouldn't have to worry about things like this when entering a potentially dangerous environment.

That's what I figured. I didn't think twice at him having those mods made. If you look at the past Craig films, that stuff probably could have come in handy!

Second viewing tonight!!!

Anyone notice that Bond told M to go to the kitchen during the movie?

I couldn't help but chuckle, as I am constantly (playfully) telling my lady friends that's where they belong, etc. :p

Did anyone notice the painting in the new M's office of the big war ships lined up? It was painted very similar to the painting when 007 met Q in the gallery. I think its kind of a sign that they are reaffirming that hes back!

The painting is called The Fighting Temeraire by JMW Turner. Here's a link to a hi-res version. Print on canvas, frame it and you've got a Skyfall prop! :p

Just got back. Loved it. I was wondering how Dench would bow out. She has a degenerative eye disease that she said was making it impossible for her to act. I thought this was the perfect way to end her service.

The line about the new gadget from MI6 being radio was one of my favorites.
