i'm assuming the mechanism is in the box?

or is there some serious Q branch engineering going on there :lol
 
no mechanism is in the watch ;) power source is in the box, but it is interchangeable, so it is possible to ware it, not that I would though lol.

Does the watch mechanism still work? (I'm guessing it does not).

What kind of motor was used to make it spin?

I'd like to know how the watch (or watches) was modified to make this work. This is really, really cool!
 
You guess correct, there is no watch mechanism, I don't have a clue what motor was used, and i don't intend taking it to bits :)) but it must be quite a small motor and also quite powerful, as I'm sure the the face and bezel are quite heavy for a small motor.
 
Wow! Color me amazed! According to the Christies catalog, the original prop was powered very differently;

In Cain's design, the buzz saw is activated by compressed air blown through a tube on to specially constructed vanes causing the bezel to rise and rotate.

Looks altogether a bit more cumbersome...!
